PFAS are everywhere, including in food packaging. CR tested more than 100 packaging products for PFAS and found them in some packaging from every retailer we looked it, sometimes at high levels https://t.co/WHfW7Ewidu
I know this is a lot of words in a screenshot but I think it's important to read them bc cutting funding for pediatric cancer research is ghastly (link to the piece to follow)
Not only do I agree that this book is a great read, I’m so jealous of the cover art on this version! I mean I love my copy of the book and its art, but damn this is cool
I finished reading “The Tainted Cup” by Robert Jackson Bennett. Wow—this was fantastic. A total hit. I don’t usually read fantasies, but this works brilliantly as a mystery novel as well. Above all, its uniquely original world-building is outstanding. It’s set in another world where, during the rainy season, massive creatures known as “Leviathans” attack the defense walls. In order to fight back, people have developed enhanced abilities through biological modifications. Within this fantastical setting, the story follows a pair of investigators—gifted individuals working for the Ministry of Justice—as they pursue a mysterious death. It’s hard to fully capture in just a few words, but this is a masterpiece that deserves to be read. Highly recommended.

UPDATE: Staff at the ICE concentration camp in Dilley, Texas have begun raiding the dormitories of kids and their parents to confiscate and destroy letters from the children. This is in response to the ace reporting by @micarosenberg et al for ProPublica: https://t.co/ZZ6CpUNs2C
@DKThomp I'd want to see how it can help do my job better. I don't want AI to write for me (ever), but when I've tried to use it to look up studies (typically medical) or data (lead testing data for water utilities, eg), it hasn't been better than me searching (and has given wrong info)
Today, the Washington Post laid off more than 300 people.
If you think this is abt Jeff Bezos's concern that the paper losing money, you're wrong.
So wrong that you should be disqualified from expressing opinions in public.

@JeffBezos
We are witnessing a murder at The Washington Post. This massacre will be the enduring legacy of Jeff Bezos and Will Lewis and the leadership who stood by.
But please read my love letter to the paper that felt like home, and will always be my “we.” ❤️🩹https://t.co/b4zaDlCr3B
New: Statement from former executive editor Marty Baron: "This ranks among the darkest days in the history of one of the world’s greatest news organizations.
"The Washington Post’s ambitions will be sharply diminished, its talented and brave staff will be further depleted, and the public will be denied the ground-level, fact-based reporting in our communities and around the world that is needed more than ever."
The Post has had plenty of issues under current management, but truly bummed that my hometown paper is losing so many great reporters covering so many important and interesting stories. So shortsighted to think eliminating great people and coverage will lead to a better product.
Quite a read on what’s happening with cancer research. In-depth reporting by @jonathanmahler with a personal story at the end. Who doesn’t know someone whose life has been affected by cancer, who could have a better life if we keep research moving forward? https://t.co/DblPpELjjs
Surrogate pregnancies are increasingly popular in Silicon Valley, and the practice is expected to explode globally in the coming decade. It’s also shockingly unregulated. 10 months in the making, this is a story about what happens when it goes horribly wrong.
@TPCarney Hospitalization rate for kids in that age range is comparable to that of people age 50-64 (par with flu). If vaccination is their first time encountering the virus that will make subsequent exposures (that will occur) less risky. https://t.co/P5kgk1kxpk https://t.co/wnYsRBdCgE
