A gun is designed to kill, not maim. He grabbed his gun so his intent was to steal the gun and kill the stepdad. Instead, he got killed while attacking someone while trespassing. Fuck that guy. He lunged and escalated and grabbed the gun. That means he had intent to steal the gun and kill him. Self defense 100 percent. Idiot dad won his prize

There’s a part in a Tom Clancy book where they criticize Jack Ryan for not going for a headshot. He explains you are always trained to shoot center mass. Highest chance of hitting the threat.
