@smithwriting @realJennaEllis I joined the RCC at Easter after being raised Baptist, attended Moody Bible School for 3 years, served in ministry at AoG, independent, Vineyard and attended Reformed churches. Calvinists told me that I wasn’t a real Christian because of my behavior in an addiction. Ouch, wrong

The Westminster and Heidelberg catechisms are confessional documents of Reformed traditions. The CCC is a universal catechism of the Catholic Church, promulgated by the successor of Peter after consultation with the world's bishops, and intended as a comprehensive reference.

The Reformed structure is fundamentally:

Christ → Scripture → confession/catechism interpreting Scripture

And even where these are officially adopted, they are explicitly subordinate to Scripture. For example, the United Reformed Churches describe the Three Forms of Unity as their doctrinal standards while explicitly saying their authority is subordinate to the Bible.

The Westminster formulation explains salvation through God's eternal decree, election, effectual calling, and irresistible grace.

Catholic teaching says grace is necessary and always precedes our response, but it does not make the response the result of an irresistible decree.

The closest Calvinist/Reformed equivalent to the CCC is the Westminster Standards, especially the Westminster Confession of Faith (WCF), Larger Catechism (WLC), and Shorter Catechism (WSC).

There isn't one single Calvinist catechism accepted by all Calvinists.

@smithwriting @realJennaEllis The Westminster Assembly was not simply “the Church teaching.” It was an assembly convened in a particular political and ecclesial context to formulate a Reformed confession. Its authority derives from the Presbyterian/Reformed tradition not from apostolic succession.
