This article is a good reminder of why the research I'm doing matters! For the past year, my grad students and I have been interviewing adolescents and analyzing their TikTok user data to understand how content on the app impacts their mental health and suicidal thoughts. It's important to hear directly from users how they are using the app because there's only so much content filters can do, and they will always find a way to see the content they're interested in.
