“They were not doing these crimes in the shadows.” A UN team today presented a report on the violence visited upon Yazidis by ISIS – and they've identified suspects, hoping for justice: “Just in relation to the Sinjar brief,” says @KarimKhanQC, “there’s more than 1444 suspects.”
“I can confirm to the Council that based on our independent criminal investigations, UNITAD has established clear and convincing evidence that #Genocide was committed by #ISIL against the #Yazidis as a religious group” Karim Khan, head of @UNITAD_Iraq to #UNSC#YazidiGenocide
Thank you @POTUS for recognizing the #ArmenianGenocide in spite of #Turkey's opposition.

We welcome Iraq’s passing of the Yezidi Female Survivors Law, which recognizes the ISIS genocide against Yezidis and seeks to address the needs of the survivors of unspeakable atrocities. We continue to support the Government of Iraq in our fight to prevent an ISIS resurgence.
1) We are pleased to hear that the @Parliament_iq finally passed the Yazidi Female Survivors Law. Many have campaigned for this important law including Yazda and the #YazidiSurvivorsNetwork.
Today's passage of Iraq’s Yazidi Survivors Bill is an important first step in acknowledging the gender-based trauma of sexual violence & need for tangible redress. Implementation of the law will need to be focused comprehensively supporting & sustainably reintegrating survivors.
Ministry of Interior Affairs of #Turkey says #ISIS#Daesh fighter has been arrested in Ankara. Says he had a 7-year-old #Yazidi girl with him whom he had abducted. The Ministry statement mentions that the operation was planned by taking into consideration the child. #Yezidi
A father died with his two children while he was trying to rescue them from the burning tent in Ezidis displaced camp in Bersivi, Zakho. The Genocide is ongoing.
Last week, over 100 Yazidi remains were returned to Iraq for proper burial by loved ones, including by Nobel Prize winner @NadiaMuradBasee I hope this helps brings some closure to the horror our #Yazidi friends have faced from the genocide.
After 6 years, I was able to bury the remains of 2 of my brothers. My community of Kocho was able to lay over 100 of our loved ones to rest. This is just the beginning of justice for Yazidis. Thousands of families still wait for the identification & burial of their loved ones.
Dilsoz was abducted by ISIS when she was 14. She escaped to find out her entire family is still missing.
She stands in front of her home in #Kocho telling her story:
“.......It’s unbearable to to come home and see that you’re the only one there.....”
Today in Kocho...
the remains of 104 innocents who were killed by ISIS in 2014 will be returned.
Now they have a name, a face and can rest in peace in their land with their ancestors according to their culture & traditions.
Their memory will live forever with every #Ezidi
