The Khalsa Biradari Society, made up of zealous Mazbi, Ramdasia Sikhs and other lower caste converts from Islam, stormed the Akal Takht on the 12th of October, 1920, in protest of the discrimination of the Pujari and Nihang custodians.
The group took over the Akal Takht causing the Pujaris and Nihangs to flee in fear of their purity and declared themselves as the Akalis- forming the @SGPCAmritsar and @Akali_Dal_.
The new caretakers did away with most of the previous practices, including the slaughter of goats on Dussehra, as it was seen as a remnant of the old Pujari order.
@ParmBilkhu Interesting enough is the fact that the Guru’s period wasn’t so far away from us now that firearms were uncommon or not even used by them. Rather, they were part and parcel to the Sikh experience. G. Gobind Singh Ji even wrote significantly more about the gun than re: the sword.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t reflect the sounds of the language perfectly just how English letters do not accurately reflect it either. Gurmukhi however was intentionally designed and purpose built
@DelightfulMan01 @starrrsalign1@e_munti As someone who can read and write both, Gurmukhi is the script that most accurately reflects the sounds of Punjabi with each letter corresponding to a specific unique sound unlike Shahmukhi which has multiple letters that reflect the same sound in Punjabi.
