Ruturaj Gaikwad says CSK’s 2026 season was a “transition phase” filled with injuries, inconsistency and missed opportunities, but believes the young squad gained valuable experience for the future.

After losing their first three matches, CSK fought back to stay alive in the playoff race till the final league game, eventually finishing with 6 wins and 8 losses.

Gaikwad admitted injuries to Jamie Overton and Ramakrishna Ghosh disrupted the balance of the XI, while close defeats against SRH proved costly. He also praised youngsters like Kartik Sharma, Urvil Patel and Dewald Brevis for stepping up during a rebuilding season.

KKR stay alive in the IPL 2026 playoff race.

After losing their first six games, Kolkata Knight Riders have now won six of their last seven, defeating Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets in a tense chase.

Cameron Green and Saurabh Dubey ripped through MI early, while Narine and Varun tightened the screws on a tricky surface. Manish Pandey’s classy 45 and Rovman Powell’s power-hitting guided KKR home despite late pressure.

MI struggled to accelerate after the rain break, with Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma unable to break free against KKR’s spin attack. Corbin Bosch’s late 32 pushed MI to 147, but it wasn’t enough.

KKR now need to beat Delhi Capitals and hope other results go their way to sneak into the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani has blasted the inconsistent pitches at Arun Jaitley Stadium, saying DC now treat Delhi like an “away venue”.

DC have won only 2 of 7 home games this IPL season, despite winning 4 of 6 away matches. Badani said the surfaces have been impossible to predict, with one game seeing 260 scored and another ending with teams getting bowled out cheaply.

“We are getting bowled out for 60, for 150, and also scoring 260. We don’t know how Pitch No. 4, 5 or 6 will play,” Badani said.

He added that DC have stopped discussing the surface because every pitch has behaved differently, making preparation and team selection extremely difficult.

“Here, we don’t know what the surface will do.”

Shubman Gill didn't hold back after GT's 29-run loss to KKR.

"We didn't deserve to win this one," Gill admitted after Gujarat Titans dropped four catches, including three sitters, allowing Finn Allen to smash 93 off just 35 balls as KKR piled up a record 247 against GT.

GT still managed 218/4 in reply, but Gill said the poor fielding cost them the game despite a good batting effort.

"When you drop three to four catches in a game, it is never easy for the bowlers. We set a certain standard and our fielding could have been a lot better."

Gill also backed his bowling unit despite the off day, saying it's better for such a performance to happen now rather than in the playoffs.

GT remain second on the IPL 2026 table with 16 points and next face CSK in Ahmedabad on May 21.

CPL 2026 squads are taking shape and the Caribbean stars are on the move.

Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders retained their West Indian core with Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine and Akeal Hosein all staying. Andre Russell, however, moves to Jamaica Kingsmen alongside Rovman Powell, who will captain the side.

Barbados Tridents pulled off a major move by signing Gudakesh Motie from Guyana Amazon Warriors, while Warriors replaced him with left-arm spinner Khary Pierre and retained Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Romario Shepherd and Shamar Joseph.

St Lucia Kings retained Roston Chase and Matthew Forde, while Antigua & Barbuda Falcons held on to Fabian Allen, Jayden Seales and Amir Jangoo. St Kitts & Nevis Patriots kept Kyle Mayers, Andre Fletcher and Jason Holder, and also drafted CPL legend Johnson Charles.

One of the biggest young talents to watch will be 19-year-old left-arm wristspinner Vitel Lawes after his impressive Under-19 World Cup campaign.

CPL 2026 will run from August 7 to September 20 across eight Caribbean nations and will overlap with The Hundred.

In the last few days, most IPL matches have lost their intensity. It feels like the majority of players are not giving their full effort, or perhaps they are simply exhausted from playing too much cricket and constant travel.

Sometimes it even raises suspicion that the IPL is running on a script, teams that looked completely invincible in the first half are now playing absolutely terrible cricket. Captains who were being widely praised for their leadership are suddenly looking clueless with their decisions.

Overall conclusion: Right now, the IPL has become extremely boring. Player performances are poor, and the results of the matches feel quite suspicious.

KKR head coach Abhishek Nayar revealed that centre-wicket practice sessions and a change in Rinku Singh’s trigger movement helped the batter rediscover form after a slow start to IPL 2026.

After struggling early in the season, Rinku has scored 207 runs in his last four innings without being dismissed at a strike rate of 172. Nayar said KKR focused on rebuilding both his confidence and technique, including a subtle movement adjustment where Rinku now “walks across” before delivery.

Nayar also credited KKR’s supportive dressing-room environment for the team’s recent turnaround, saying the franchise avoided panic changes despite pressure and criticism. KKR have now won four of their last five matches and remain alive in the playoff race.

Shubman Gill revealed Gujarat Titans believed 168 would be enough on a “tricky” surface against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and their bowlers proved him absolutely right.

After half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar guided GT to 168/5, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder ripped through SRH, reducing them to 32/4 in the powerplay before bundling them out for just 86.

Gill praised GT’s powerplay bowling and said the team always felt 160-170 would be difficult to chase on that pitch. The massive win sent Gujarat Titans to the top of the IPL 2026 points table.

Nahid Rana produced another sensational spell as Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 104 runs in Mirpur to take a 1-0 lead in the Test series.

Chasing 268 on a difficult final-day pitch, Pakistan were still alive in the contest thanks to debutant Abdullah Fazal’s composed 66, but Bangladesh struck back brilliantly in the final session. Nahid Rana’s fiery pace and Taijul Islam’s spin turned the game completely as Pakistan collapsed to 163 all out.

Rana finished with a superb 5/40, including the huge wickets of Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi, as Bangladesh registered their third consecutive Test win over Pakistan and their first-ever Test victory against them at home.
