Thai soldiers reportedly opened fire on Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan village, Ou Beychoan commune, Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province. Preliminary reports from local authorities indicate that five civilians were injured in the incident. Officials have yet to provide details on the victims’ conditions or clarify whether any confrontation preceded the shooting.
The incident occurred just two weeks after the signing of the Peace Declaration, casting serious doubt on Thailand’s commitment to regional stability. It raises a critical question: Does Thailand truly seek peace—or is it undermining the very agreement it pledged to uphold?
