This was the intel shared with the Poles, Scandinavians and Balts a few months back -- and met with a fair degree of skepticism, as I was told. It was then leaked in the Polish media and caused quite a stir in Polish defense circles.

The more probable threat scenarios laid out here -- cyberattacks, sabotage operations and drone swarms -- aren't just hypothetical; they're happening now. (See the latest drone incident in Leipzig.)

Note this, however: "The likelihood of the most extreme scenario—a limited land incursion—is low, but gets higher as time goes on, according to the reports."

A "limited land incursion" is an invasion of NATO territory. That would either put Russia in a state of open war with the alliance or simply end the alliance in the event that Article V went unhonored (what the Russians would most want to happen). This applies with or without U.S. participation. I'd imagine Ukraine would also participate in a second front under such circumstances, not only in common cause but to relieve pressure along the contact line at home.

The skepticism was rooted in the belief among Eastern Flank partners (and, as always, there were disagreements among them) that Russia couldn't afford to test Article V's integrity given its struggles on a non-NATO battlefield. Perhaps views among those partners have shifted in light of reported U.S. shortages of critical munitions. That reporting and the timing of this leak don't seem coincidental.

El-Sayed’s victory tells us something that’s been obvious for some time in Britain, crystallised in America with the election of the Islamist Mayor Zohran Mamdani in New York City, and can no longer be ignored.

This is that — astoundingly — hatred of Israel and the Jews has become the driver of progressive politics in America, Britain and elsewhere in the West. It’s become an organising worldview, the prism through which everything is perceived.

Its significance goes far beyond the Middle East or the Jews, about which most people know little and care less. The issue of Israel and “Palestine” is a Trojan horse for the real agenda: the Islamisation and destruction of the West through the “red green alliance” between the far-left and the Islamic world.

Les Dolciniens...
Je suis sûr que très peu de gens connaissent les Dolciniens.

Vous avez des excuses. Cela nous ramène au XIVe siècle...
Mais c'est dommage : leurs héritiers directs ont fait 5,5% des voix aux dernière européennes. Ce qui nous impose d'en savoir un peu plus sur ces braves gens.

Au départ, fin XIIIe siècle, il y a un type, Gherardo Segarelli, originaire de Parme, qui fait une crise mystique.

Associé au mouvement des Apostoli (Apôtres du Christ), il se met à prêcher une vie de pauvreté évangélique et de prédication itinérante.
Un peu comme l'ordre mendiant des Franciscains, mais en beaucoup plus hard.

Ce qui finit par agacer sérieusement l'Eglise.
L'Inquisition le juge donc comme hérétique et le brûle vif à Parme, le 18 juillet 1300. Terminé.

Mais un autre zoulou reprend le flambeau. il s'appelle Fra Dolcino. D'où le nom de Dolciniens.

Et lui, c'est un vrai, un vrai de vrai, un dur. Exalté, charismatique, il enfonce le clou : il affirme que l'Église est devenue corrompue ; que le pape a trahi le Christ ; que les riches prélats servent Satan. Les riches tout court, aussi.

Et qu'une nouvelle Église va bientôt remplacer l'ancienne, quand le temps des "vrais pauvres" sera venu.

Au début, les Dolciniens vivent en communauté. Mettent leurs biens en commun. Les décisions prises sont sont largement collectives. Les femmes sont admises.

Mais l'Eglise les condamne, comme hérétiques. Et ça vire au vinaigre.
Car ils résistent.

Les Dolciniens s'installent dans les montagnes du Piémont. Construisent des fortifications. Organisent leur défense.
Ils mènent plusieurs combats contre les armées envoyées par l'évêque de Verceil.

Des chroniques les accusent alors de pillages; d'incendies; d'assassinats de "riches".

Il est possible que ces chroniques aient un peu noirci le tableau.
Mais il est sûr qu'il y a quand même un petit fond de vrai...

Jusqu'à ce qu'en 1306, le pape Clément V lance une véritable croisade contre eux. Et, en 1307, fin de l'histoire.
Dolcino est capturé. Affreusement torturé. Et exécuté.

On pourrait ne plus en parler. Mais faut pas croire : le Dolcinisme a survécu, en douce. Tout au long des siècles.

Dans sa folie mystique.
Car ce qu'il faut comprendre, c'est que ces braves religieux ne voulaient pas sauver les pauvres. Ils ne voulaient pas améliorer leur sort. Ils n'étaient pas "de gauche" et généreux.

Ils voulaient juste que tout le monde soit pauvre. Et souffre, pour gagner le Ciel.

Quand Marine Tondelier (voir ci dessous), demande qu'on supprime les "igloos des riches", au lieu de plaider pour que les pauvres aussi aient les moyens de se rafraîchir... elle est donc parfaitement Dolcinienne : elle ne veut pas améliorer le sort des pauvres; elle veut juste que tout le monde soit pauvre, et souffre.

"Penitenziagite" (Repentez- vous) était le cri de reconnaissance des Dolciniens.

Ce pourrait être celui des Verts...

Bref, le Dolcinisme est très actuel.

Et il explique largement l'alliance entre ces Verts, qui détestent les riches... et les trotsko-léninistes, qui veulent envoyer ces mêmes "bourgeois" aux goulags du collectivisme.

Umberto Eco en a d'ailleurs parlé habilement, dans "Le nom de la Rose" :

"Tu sais, Adso, il n'y a qu'un pas entre vision extatique et frénésie de péché. Et il est vite franchi."

Evidently, Arday is not the main villain here. He’s either a sick person or a great con man.

The real issue is the charlatans who are capturing institutions and diluting a reputation hard-earned by real scholars over several centuries.

The more I read about this affair, the more disgusted I am by @simonschuster, @Cambridge_Uni, and every other institutions that exploited Jason Arday as a mascot for signalling their own virtue. All along, Simon & Schuster was sitting on internal evidence that Arday was a pathological fabulist, without any need for fact-checking. All they had to do was compare the original book proposal with the final manuscript and notice that the confabulations were entirely different and contradictory:

- In the proposal, he spends months in a coma after being hit by a car. Doctors recommend unplugging his life support, yet he remains conscious throughout, trapped in "locked-in syndrome," before miraculously awakening. The published book mentions NONE of this, nor the full year he supposedly spent "relearning everything—how to walk, to talk." Instead, the memoir tells an uneventful year of finishing secondary school and taking exams. Are you f*cking kidding me, @simonschuster?
- The "testicular cancer" in the proposal somehow transmogrifies into "two brain tumors" in the finished manuscript. Another medical miracle.
- The chronology of his dramatic suicide attempt—standing on a bridge before being saved by an Eagles song—changes completely. In one version it happens during the pandemic; in another, before it.
- The elderly "shaman woman" who predicts his meteoric rise during his (non-existent) trip to Brazil with WaterAid suddenly turns into an aid worker in her 30s. A woman with truly magical powers.

Despite knowing all this, @simonschuster cynically forged ahead with publication, because they thought they could make big bucks out of this "near-mythic" (dixit his agent) story, and flaunt their own virtue.

Pull this book off the shelves, @simonschuster, and stop humiliating this very troubled man.

C'était il y a un an, les médias affirmaient, sur la foi "d'informations" du Hamas rapidement "confirmées" par les agences de l'ONU et de photos d'enfants décharnés, que la famine ravageait Gaza en dépit des démentis du gouvernement israélien.
Il s'est vite avéré que les photos publiées étaient celles d'enfants souffrant d'une maladie génétique (seul le NYT s'est excusé, aucun média en France), avant que la famine ne cesse rapidement d'être un sujet dans les journaux, comme s'ils étaient soudain pris de pudeur devant la fragilité des preuves. Qu'en période de guerre, qu'on ait faim ou qu'il y ait des poches de famine (sans compter la responsabilité du Hamas), c'est une chose, une famine généralisée style Biafra ou Amsterdam en 1945 et surtout organisée (toujours le fameux génocide), c'était plus que douteux.
Aujourd'hui, l’enquête menée par le Nutrition Cluster de l'UNICEF pour l’ONU, confirme que toute cette affaire a été une manipulation du Hamas. Le NC a mesuré le poids, la taille et le tour de bras des enfants pour calculer le score WHZ, indicateur standard de la malnutrition aiguë. A Gaza il se situe entre 0,2 et 0,8 % : c’est le taux des pays développés. Pour la famine (Phase 5), il aurait au moins fallu que 30 % des enfants de moins de cinq ans soient en malnutrition aiguë.
A l'époque, je m'étais fait trainer dans la boue parce que j'invitais à la plus élémentaire prudence (encore et toujours vu la source des informations). J'ai hâte de lire les mea culpa 🙄

Voici pourtant ce que disent 5 études universitaires sur le rôle de Twitter/X dans les élections

1⃣ Avant X, l'algorithme de Twitter avait tendance à réduire le vote à droite, aux USA en tout cas ils diminuaient le vote pour les Républicains en 2016 et 2020 là où il était le plus utilisé (1).

2⃣ Une étude sur les élections britanniques montrent qu'il existe une relation positive entre l'activité sur Twitter et le soutien électoral, mais que cet effet reste modeste et dépend fortement du contexte de campagne. (2)

3⃣ L'algorithme de X accroît fortement l'exposition aux contenus politiques (sans démontrer une intention politique de la part de X), notamment conservateurs, et peut modifier certaines opinions ciblées, sans pour autant que l'on constate de changement dans l'identification partisane ou le vote. (3)

4⃣ La présence sur Twitter (en 2015) peut améliorer la perception d'un candidat sans nécessairement changer le comportement électoral. Première étude randomisée sur ce sujet, au Japon. (4)

5⃣ Twitter (en 2013) reproduit la diversité politique que les individus connaissent déjà dans leur entourage. Le réseau social ne créé donc pas de "bulles hermétiques"

The more I think about the Jason Arday debacle the more it pisses me off. I was only a teen when I witnessed how my father, Shelby Steele, was forced out of his university for the crime of believing that blacks could achieve the American Dream without preferential treatment. My father was often voted as the best professor in his department and his specialty was the Russian novel. When I would go with him around town, former students would come up and thank him for pushing them to their limits. But when he began to publish his thoughts on race in Harper's and Commentary magazine, the white guilt-black power elites at the university decided that he had to go. Today that university is now a major bastion of social justice warriors, and to what good? Since my father is a man of merit, he has survived and thrived despite repeated attempts to cancel him. Arday will survive by debasing himself into further victimization. The price of that bargain, paid by our society and, most of all, by our students, has been enormous. Can you imagine how low my father would have had to sink to reach Arday's level? How much he would have had to betray his merit and talent? Do you not see how evil race is? To rely on even an inch of it robs one of the will they need to push their talents to the highest of heights. Even the devil at the crossroads didn't ask for that much.

Avant de devenir Maire de Saint-Denis, l'Insoumis Bally Bagayoko cumulait des fonctions d’adjoint au maire puis de vice-président du conseil départemental et de cadre à temps plein à la RATP.

Selon les révélations du Canard Enchaîné, l’ancien maire de Saint-Denis aurait été recruté à la RATP en 2000 sur simple proposition d’un dirigeant de la Régie, dans le cadre d’une politique de recrutement en faveur de la « diversité » et des quartiers.

Toujours selon l’hebdomadaire, Bally Bagayoko aurait ensuite cumulé pendant des années un poste de cadre à la RATP avec ses fonctions d’adjoint au maire puis de vice-président du conseil départemental.

Après la perte de ce dernier mandat, ses indemnités municipales auraient été augmentées de 102 %. Son salaire à la RATP dépassait par ailleurs 6 000 € par mois, treizième mois et primes compris.

Interrogé par Le Canard Enchaîné, Bally Bagayoko ne conteste pas avoir été recruté sans concours. Il explique qu’être élu local « demande une disponibilité de tous les instants » et affirme que son emploi à la RATP lui a permis de « garder les pieds sur terre ».

Le double agenda de Bally Bagayoko. Adjoint au maire puis vice-président du conseil départemental, et cadre à la RATP. Un temps plein qui interroge: comment être partout à la fois et garder les pieds sur terre?

📌Ces révélations relancent le débat sur les recrutements idéologiques dans les entreprises publiques, le cumul des fonctions politiques et les rémunérations d’emplois des élus.

I just finished this - and it is superb: a dynamic compelling and pulsating history - grippingly narrated but with a completely fresh and convincing analysis and horizon across the whole region that shows the Crusades were very different from the traditional Western narrative. Using sources Frankish Byzantine Armenian Turkic and Arab, Christian, Islamic and Judaic, he shows the Frankish invasion was just fairly minor facet of a much bigger Middle Eastern theatre in which the Seljuk Turks were more important. The traditional but rather erroneous narrative, one particlarly promoted by guilty but parochial Westerners after 9/11, of a pacific Arab world suddenly torn apart by brutal murderous Crusader knights ignores the Turks, the Byzantines, the Arabs. Instead @NicholasMorto11 rightly paints a MIddle East in total disarray and chaos as the shortlived Seljuk sultanate broke up into a warring baronies ruled by independent begs, the Egyptian Fatimid caliphate declined fast, the Byzantine empire enjoyed spasms of confidence interspersed with ferocious civil wars and the Baghdad caliphate stagnated powerlessly. In this game, the Crusaders were just one more axis of potentates playing for the prize of the MIddle East. In the process he uses many wonderful sources including my favourite character Usama bin Mundiqh who i used to narrate the Crusades in my book Jerusalem. I especially enjoyed the book because this is the approach I used in The World. I think its much closer to what actually happened than the more parochial West-centric approach. It is also much more exciting. Crusader Storm is a thrilling ride. A must read

There's a side gig here where you go buy groceries for people who don't have the right address and sell it, say, 15% below market. Or, you sell it at market price, but it's delivered for free -- or, at least, it's cheaper than Uber and other similar services.

Another problem is that maybe the goal is not to provide cheap food. Maybe they want to use your taxes to hand out jobs to their little buddies. Maybe it's even more sinister and they want to drive private stores out of business to effectively control who gets groceries or not... In other words, maybe it's not idiocy, but malice.
