@Nobleshield@hill_jowett@EveraeGames In traditional Roleplaying Games... ONLY D&D out of those features that. BRP (e.g. WFRP and CoC) and lots of others have done this for 50+ years. It isn't innovative just the way most do it. Try something like Blades in the Dark or Through the Breach where ONLy players roll
@Darthshadow25@Thunder_Chicken@mikemearls It's not just about being persuasive. I'd also give it to a player who says something like: "X goes over to the merchant and outlines that they should help because of A, B and C."- same sentiments without the player's natural ability to speak. If they just say "I persuade": Roll.
@DyingBreedTT A universal system isn't a problem so long as you tweak it to match the tone of the game. D20 has provided some great foundations for games (and some less stable ones too). Just look at say the Starship Troopers version of 3e- brutal and deadly.
@leiflaw@SandyofCthulhu I mean, it takes 5 seconds to search and see that Ghostbusters RPG came out in 1986 and Star Wars 1987 so this statement seems to be wrong.
@GrampsToolshed I think the issue might be that Savage Worlds hasn't necessarily got a big tentpole- people probably know Deadlands but not even sure if that was always SW? Plus the need for dice and cards I guess might make it more unpalatable. And the need for the SW book PLUS setting.
@Grand_DM Because we have a system where the idea of Good and Evil are inherent because of baked-in Christian beliefs that come from discriminatory backgrounds and similar sexist attitudes and beliefs. We acknowledge and recognise to progress. Gygax wasn't perfect, nobody is.
@UnlimitedFFG Wow thanks... what about those of us outside the US...already we get shorted on products again and again and now there are exclusive cards that we can't get... terrible customer service
@hexcrawl Problem is that D&D doesn't facilitate this. It's so rules heavy for no reason, yet not actually allowing options or choices. Want your players to declare actions not rules, play something else.
@MrRhexx Not at all. All of those things are just fluff that's ingrained. Monstrous amalgams don't just have to be bears with owls. Why does it have to be called 'magic missile' WFRP for example just uses that as a category of attack spells.
@SovereignFist @edge_english The problem is this is based on the awful novel from Aconyte... Why they couldn't have used one of the good novels from Marie Brennan or Josh Reynolds instead...
