@TupeloHoney72 @blkgirllostkeys So true. 37 for me. I have a problem with “superpower” rhetoric. I see it as a collection of qualities like any other. Sometimes highly advantageous, sometimes an enormous pain in the bum to self and others, sometimes just background radiation.

@Finnattentive I’m inattentive and this has not proved a problem in my friendships. My son, however, is hyperactive and I feel he often needs encouragement to be a better friend/brother.

E.g. allow others to speak or contribute, watch he doesn’t hurt anyone, listen for other people’s feelings.

No. They just met you. They don’t know you. You’re expectation of an instant rapport is undoubtedly also a factor.

As an #adhdParent of an #adhdKid I often find myself reaching a loose end and falling back on the classic phrases... even though I actually KNOW they are insensitive, harmful and not at all helpful.

@AdhdAngsty @Finnattentive I was a late diagnosis (37ish), presumably since I am inattentive and present well in public.

I don’t feel that bad about it, except my medication isn’t subsidised since I wasn’t diagnosed as a child.

5yo and 7yo saw my “Cabinet of Dr Caligari” poster and asked to watch some. They sat wrapt for the whole thing.

I had NO idea 7yo’s busy brain would last through an entire silent film.

...they now insist I call him Dr Calamari.🙄

@AdultingADHD @Finnattentive I have a Kondo aversion. Minimalism seems to me like a middle-class hobby that says "I'll chuck it because I can just buy it again".

I also have a historical dislike for "Queer Eye" which has slightly abated. These people do not need fixing!

@AnnaWhateley I have a real problem with this. Not only #becauseADHD, but as a man who hangs out mostly with women, I can tend to monopolise a conversation if I'm not on my guard. So, I have to watch carefully for other people in conversations, especially my partner… Does. Not. Often. Work.
