Last week, the Governor’s problematic surplus deal was blocked.
Let's be clear: there’s no doubt our schools need more funding. But this deal would not have solved the problem.
Here's 3 reasons why: https://t.co/5mpXt27HnP
If we truly want life to be more affordable for everyday families, the wealthiest few need to pay their fair share.
We need leaders willing to solve long-term problems, not politicians looking for a short-term headline before walking away fr the mess.

This May Day, we stand w/immigrant workers/families who power our economy, raise our communities, & deserve to live w/dignity & safety. Our office will be closed on May 1 so our team can join community in honoring May Day.
The KF office will be CLOSED next Friday, May 1 in solidarity with immigrant communities across the state.
🚫 No work, no school, no shopping to demonstrate the essential role immigrants play in our economy, communities, and democracy: https://t.co/DjpHLQOY5G

Happy Black Maternal Health Week to everyone, including our own mamas on the KF team! ❤️ Here in Wisconsin, one key way we ensure that every Black mama and their family can live a life rooted in joy is by addressing the affordability crisis.
Affordability means access to basic needs that every mama needs: ✔️ safe, affordable housing ✔️ consistent transportation to/fr appts ✔️ time off work to recover after giving birth ✔️ access to safe, consistent health care throughout your pregnancy & long after
Affordability isn’t just a campaign slogan—it should be a promise we can actually feel in our monthly budgets.
This Tax Day, let’s ask the harder (& more honest) question: who is really paying—& who isn’t?

UPDATE! Last week, @GovEvers vetoed AB24, which would have cut funding for communities if they didn't agree to turn their local law enforcement into tools of mass deportation & forced local law enforcement to cooperate with ICE.
Thank the Governor below or by sharing this post!
Response to @GovEvers signing AB180:
✅ Funding for FoodShare=good. ⚠️ Policing food choices=bad.
Food restrictions are a distraction to keep us focused on what struggling families have in their shopping carts, while the richest 1% run away w/the store: https://t.co/o0FPUuf9A0
Today the WI Senate took 1 step fwd & 1 step back.
AB759 passed, which allows DACA recipients to get professional licenses.
Unfortunately, AB24 also passed, which forces local law enforcement to work w/ICE. We urge @GovEvers to veto this bill: https://t.co/uSUmIbZZtE.
Tomorrow, Tue 3/3, 10:30 a.m., the Senate Committee on Government Operations, Labor, and Economic Development will hold a public hearing. This is an important opportunity to show support and keep the momentum going.

Victory in Assembly for WI DACA Recipients! AB759 would allow DACA recipients to apply for & receive pro/occupational licenses - crucial for immigrant young people/families. Contact your State Senators & let them know how important this is.
Today, the Wisconsin state assembly voted to ensure that new moms on Medicaid have health insurance for a year after giving birth, instead of the current 60 days. Wisconsin will soon become the 49th state to extend postpartum coverage for one year: https://t.co/078P63XYFJ
We're still glowing from this weekend's halftime show. Our team, and our country, really needed it right now. ❤️ A few words on what it meant to one of our teammates 👉🏽

ICE and Border Patrol are storming our streets and harassing and detaining people without due process based on the color of their skin, their language or accent, or where they live.
The violence will only continue to escalate if we don’t stand up to ICE together.
We've been quiet this month, but for good reason! Our team is spending the month dreaming big, reimagining Wisconsin, and planning for the year to come.
If you're trying to reach us, we may be slow to respond, but we can't wait to connect with you soon!
