Ok, so my image of the Crab Nebula isn't as detailed as the glorious JWST pic released today, but to be fair I was working with slightly smaller kit... (Crop from processed stack of 3x30s tracked exposures, Canon 700D DSLR/300mm lens, taken at @Kielderstarcamp
@Louiestowell My book "Felicette: The Space Cat" is now available in paperback! So that was great! Also, I'm back up at @campatkielder for @Kielderstarcamp with my new telescope and clear, dark skies forecast the next 3 nights!
For the first time time since the start of May true dark skies have returned to all of the UK. And just in time to get the best views of the Milky Way. Autumn is on the way. Pix Carl Thompson. @NlandNP @NorthPennAONB @yorkshire_dales @CranborneChase @NidderdaleAONB
Should look amazing from Northumberland. Don't forget shooting stars visible for quite a few days either side of the peak. One of our favourite showers.
Lovely Perseid meteor show peaks 12/13 August. Reliable in recent years. Caused by tiny dust particles from comet burning up. Prospects are good. Use naked eye. Be patient. Look high in NE sky. Better later. Dark locations favoured! @NorthYorkMoors@Howardian_Hills@NlandNP
Fancy a two night camp out under England's darkest sky? The famous People's Starcamp is back at Kielder Campsite 20/21 Oct in Northumberland! Check it out - and book early. Saturn and Jupiter will look great this year. @GoStargazing@NlandNP@Kielderstarcamp@VisitNlandbiz
This is a rather cool image. A star blowing up in a relatively nearby galaxy. Even so news does not travel quickly over such vast distances. This happened over 20 million years ago, but only now can we see it! @GoStargazing
The International Space Station returns to UK skies tonight with several bright passes at 22:38, 00:14 and 01:51 BST. Look towards the South for a bright star-like object moving Eastwards. Clear skies! #ISS#spacestation@astro_timpeake@ProfBrianCox
