@stevenmwright @SpcialNdsJungle Pushing ahead with not censoring an opinion piece? Your link doesn't work btw

@stevenmwright @SpcialNdsJungle Critique would be a good way of actually outlining what your issues are, otherwise you're just throwing mud.

Diagnostic overshadowing happens when the focus is on the diagnosis not the individual. There is an increased risk of this, of course, when there is diagnosis specific legislation and guidance, ah...

Diagnostic Overshadowing occurs when health, behaviour, learning needs are wrongly attributed to Down syndrome while other causes are overlooked. Training helps staff identify the issue. Share your experience in the consultation. See ⬇️

NEW EXCLUSIVE: The DfE has ditched plans for digital, standardised EHCPs. We ask why it would scrap such an easy win—is it a sign Labour is aiming to kill off statutory SEND provision completely? https://t.co/Arlz3p6k9n

Today we were delighted to welcome Helen Hayes MP to meet Adeolu in his place of work at a Doubletree by Hilton hotel in London to learn more about our DSA WorkFit employment programme. 💚

Adeolu has worked for Doubletree by Hilton since November 2023 as a Luggage Porter, on a permanent paid contract. His main duties at work are to greet people as they arrive/leave and to help with their luggage. He also goes to the kitchens to collect the famous DoubleTree cookies and fruit, and gives these to guests when they check in. ⭐

During the meeting today, Adeolu gave Helen a tour of the areas in the hotel that he works in, and shared a video he stars in about a day at work at Hilton. The DSA and Hilton teams also had the opportunity to discuss our long term partnership, the importance of an inclusive employment culture, and ideas for policy reform.

Thank you to Claus, Carly, Esther and Tom from Hilton for your hospitality this morning and for your ongoing support and collaboration with the Down's Syndrome Association. Thank you to Helen for sparing the time to meet with us.

EHC plans can be the difference between a child who has Down's syndrome thriving in school and being unable to attend at all. Recent reports suggest that EHCPs may be at threat in upcoming Government education reforms.

At the Down's Syndrome Association (DSA), we support the Disabled Children's Partnership (DCP) campaign that is calling on Ministers and policymakers to retain EHCPs and rights to education for disabled children and young people.

The DSA are members of the DCP and we support this extremely important and timely campaign.

@Transgendertrd @DSAInfo This looks to be a pretty obvious cut & paste shared from @QMUniversity Edinburgh, I'd suggest. Also think need to be careful don't exclude those identifying as another gender from research, so a fine line here irrespective?

"...our identity and our inherent worth does not arise from what we do. It arises out of who we are. Arguing about whether or not people with intellectual disabilities could become air traffic controllers only plays into a dehumanizing understanding of who we are. And it only diverts us from our own humanity." 📷Well said, @amyjuliabecker! Take the time to read her full response below. #DisabilityAdvocate #DEI
