Presidential spokesman Sunday Dare says critics claiming President Tinubu is “doing nothing” on insecurity are ignoring ongoing reforms. He points to the deployment of surveillance drones, combat helicopters, intelligence-led operations and community partnerships as evidence of a long-term strategy aimed at tackling banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping across Nigeria.

Did you know that Chief Obafemi Awolowo foresaw the current happenings in Northern Nigeria? Read what he once said:

”In 1959, during the election that was to usher in independence in 1960, I embarked on an elaborate campaign in the North. I was using helicopter to campaign in every nook and corner of the North. The most important aspect of the campaign of the Action Group was free education, life more abundant for the generality of the people etc, etc. Our manifesto was centred on the development of man. We worked so hard that the Sardauna of Sokoto, Ahmadu Bello, was førced to campaign, a thing he was never used to. My hope at that time was to liberate the North from illiteracy, ignørance and the 'ranka dede' mentality. If I had won the election, I would have put a lot of money educating the North in order to bridge the educational gap between that region and the Western and Eastern Regions. This was because I saw the lack of education as a stumbling block against political enlightenment of the whole region.

“...But I think that the sooner than later the leaders of the North will see the repercuss!on of their self!shness and carelessness in their attitude towards Western education. But the time will not be too late, and if they don’t regret it or blame themselves for lack of foresight, the Northern youth may ask their leaders some questions when they see the rate of development that goes with education in many parts of Southern Nigeria. They may then wonder whether it was in their stars or in the selfishness, carelessness and lack of foresight of their leaders. If I had been given the chance in 1959 or 1979, I would have changed the fortunes of the North as a place that can be compared favourably with the South in terms of educational, social and economic developments.”

Chief Obafemi Awolowo was born on this day (March 6), 1909. He would have been 117 years old today.

I extend my warmest wishes for a Happy New Year and season's greetings to you and the entire Ministry of Interior.

First, allow me to congratulate you sincerely on the commendable reforms you have championed under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. Your efforts in transforming the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps are truly noteworthy and deserving of praise. @officialABAT @SenRemiTinubu

However, a persistent question continues to circulate among Nigerians regarding the transparency of last year's recruitment exercises into the Immigration, Correctional (Prisons), and Fire Services. Numerous rumours and allegations have emerged concerning the process, which I believe warrant clear clarification to inform and reassure the general public and all concerned citizens.

Just last night, the Distinguished Spokesperson to Mr. President, Mr. Sunday Dare, @SundayDareSD was directly asked about this matter by an APC woman leader from Anambra, known as “Ada Anambra,” @AdaAnambra2023 during a TikTok engagement. I understand that Mr. Dare had attempted to facilitate a discussion with you on this issue approximately three weeks ago, but your demanding schedule prevented participation at that time.

I kindly urge you to address these concerns publicly at your earliest convenience—perhaps through an official press statement, or by rescheduling the proposed social media engagement to speak directly to Nigerians. While the Presidential Spokesperson can only relay the information provided to him, a direct response from your office would carry greater authority and help dispel lingering doubts. @nigimmigration @segalink

Finally, millions of Nigerians, myself included, remain steadfast supporters of President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda. We are encouraged by positive macroeconomic developments, such as the Turkey JETCO MOU, the UAE CEPA Agreement, @joduwole @DHQNigeria and the improved ratings from the World Bank @IMFNews and IMF. At the same time, pressing microeconomic challenges like poverty and (declining) inflation must be tackled urgently through job creation initiatives—including timely and transparent recruitments into agencies such as the Civil Defence Corps, Immigration Service, Customs Service, and others under your purview.

I write this as a dedicated lover and supporter of President Tinubu, fully committed to the success of his vision for Nigeria.
