“As young people, we need you. We love you. But first and foremost, take care of yourselves.
This religion of alcohol, I think people even recruit others into it. Alcohol is killing you. It’s killing young people. The older ones are already gone. It has killed so many older people like us. Others are already on that same path and seem unable to stop.
But I want to warn you and beg you: everything we have been talking about, what brought you here, and the plans we have for our country, this thing will kill you before you realise your ambitions.” President Kagame |#MeetThePresident Indangamirwa 16th Cohort
H.E Edwin Sifuna has stated that Linda Mwananchi will offer Kenya a government that listens to its people, respects the rule of law, and faithfully upholds democratic ideals and values.
History teaches us that these ideals are the very foundation upon which the world’s most prosperous and stable nations were built. The countries that embraced accountable government, strong institutions, the rule of law and respect for the rights and freedoms of their citizens created the conditions for lasting growth and prosperity.
These values create certainty, certainty attracts investment, investment creates jobs, jobs generate incomes, grow businesses and build prosperity. Ultimately, these values and ideals strengthen the social fabric of a nation.
That is the vision of Linda Mwananchi: a Kenya where government serves the people, institutions are stronger than individuals, enterprise is free to thrive, and every Kenyan has the opportunity to live with dignity and prosper.

This afternoon at Urugwiro Village, President Kagame received letters of credence from newly appointed envoys; Ms. Nasra Bint Salim Bin Mohammed Al-Hashmi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Rwanda, and Ms. Olivia Charlotte Owen, High Commissioner of New Zealand to Rwanda.
Twenty days after his televised abduction and subsequent disappearance, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi resurfaced today at the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Butambala. He has revealed that throughout his illegal detention, he endured daily torture and sustained multiple injuries. The Court, as has become the norm, just remanded him to an undisclosed prison until 11th August.
Until today when its JATT security operatives drove Hon. Kivumbi to Court, the regime had denied knowledge of his whereabouts and even filed affidavits in court to the same effect!
We continue to stand in solidarity with him and all other comrades who remain unlawfully detained or missing. We remain hopeful that justice will prevail, and that Uganda will one day become a country where every citizen enjoys their basic rights and the protection of the law.
I would like to thank H.E. @PaulKagame, @FirstLadyRwanda and my counterpart General Mubarakh Muganga for the very warm welcome our delegation received in Rwanda. We had excellent discussions about our bilateral relations. Uganda-Rwanda relations are stronger and warmer than ever. We thank our two Presidents H.E.@KagutaMuseveni and H.E.@PaulKagame for their enlightened leadership of our two brotherly countries. Murakarama.
