The ability for a calf to absorb antibodies decreases by 50% after 6 hours of life and is gone by 24 hours.
Calves should receive a minimum 3L high quality colostrum within 6 hours of birth and a second feed should occur between 8 and 12 hours after birth🍼🐄
What do we consider to be a high-fat milk replacer?

Weaning Calves 🐮🍼
Wean Calves based on starter intake rather than weight or age as this is a good indicator of rumen development.
Calves should be consuming 1.5-2.0kg of concentrates for 3 consecutive days at the point of weaning.
A recent study by MSD animal health indicated that 90% of dairy farms had experienced scour in calves in the previous 12 months and that over 65% had experienced mortality due to scour.
