@AdrianBethune I *really* like the every year class mixing. Gives children opportunities to form new bonds, means every year is a completely fresh start in terms of class culture and is much lower stakes than schools who do it once or twice during the 7/8 years of primary.

Honestly, I can't even dwell on student debt because I get so angry about it. But even when interest rates were near zero, the interest on my plan 2 loan was over 6% (my mortgage is only 1%!)

The really unjust thing about tuition fees isn't the fees themselves but a) the interest rate that makes paying it off virtually impossible, meaning it's essentially a tax and b) the subsequent refusal to admit it's a tax, giving grads a higher marginal tax rate than billionaires

Six years ago, I hopped onto a plane and came to The Hague for a job interview. I thought I'd be here for a year, maybe two, while I figured out what my next steps in my career would be. But I fell in love with The Netherlands and the school I found 🧡 @BSNetherlands

Always remember: READING FOR PLEASURE has the biggest positive impact of any factor on children's life chances. So whatever else you do, please keep reading books with kids, and helping them to read. There is nothing more important! #literacy

@JaredCawley @jjBrassington But yeah, I have lots of friends who are in same-sex relationships who don't feel able to speak about it with their classes and when I taught in Burgess Hill (many colleagues commuted from Brighton) some were even actively worried about parents finding out.

I don't mention my romantic life at all and bat away questions purely because I spoke about my partner when I was an NQT to my class and then we broke up and I had to pretend we hadn't to the kids for the rest of the year 😂
