Hello everyone,

We wanted to address some of the feedback we've received about our upcoming mapping project throughout the municipality. We understand your concerns and want to assure you that we're approaching this with the utmost respect for your privacy and full compliance with Canadian laws.

Project Details:
•Fixed-Wing Aircraft for Rural Areas: As in previous 3 to 5 year cycles, we will continue using fixed-wing aircraft to map the bulk of the County with 25 cm resolution air photo before the end of August.
•Drones for Built-Up Areas: Drones will be used in areas where they excel, such as the built-up areas in the hamlets and in 40 Mile Park at 10 cm resolution over the next few weeks.

Uses of the Photos: These photos are incredibly useful for a variety of municipal purposes, including:
•Assisting County Residents and Businesses with questions
•Providing County services
•Infrastructure maintenance and improvement
•Emergency response planning

Why We're Using Drones:
•Cost-Effective: Drones are less expensive to mobilize than fixed-wing aircraft.
•High Resolution: They provide detailed images to help us accurately locate manholes, fire hydrants, drainage areas, parks, curbs, sidewalks and other critical infrastructure.
•Flexibility: Drones can cover small, specific areas more efficiently than larger aircraft.

Your Privacy Matters:
•Your privacy matters: Our goal is not to invade your privacy. We are focused on mapping public infrastructure and enhancing our community services.
•Professional conduct: We’ve hired a professional company that adheres strictly to all Canadian regulations and privacy laws.

We have always been transparent with our mapping projects and have provided landowners with digital photos of their properties upon request in the past. We now share these photos with common mapping providers to benefit everyone in the community by allowing their use by the public at no charge.
