Steve McQueen - best friend, scholar, and gentleman - died peacefully at home in our arms last night. He was the best boy, who gave us everything for 16 years - there will be other good dogs, but they'll never be you, buddy.
We love you so much, and we'll miss you forever. ❤️🩹
FUNDING ALERT! @MitoMetabLab is thrilled to share that @tmedQueens MSc student @Roanhg_ has secured a CGRS-M Canada Graduate Scholarship to support his investigation of mitochondrial remodelling during GLP-1 RA therapy! Congratulations Roan!🥳🤑💰

@jdpereira I don't think being conservative would have changed anything - are the team grants or Co-PI type initiatives in your division at UAB? I wish I had more ideas :(
Last night we were pleased to announce a research gift of $1 million from the WJ Henderson Foundation to @queensutime for our new TIME Core facility, which opens in early 2026. Details to follow but huge thank you to Dr David Pattenden & Mr Michael Hickey from their board
@KathyMcDon40415 @MBDan7 That's not how med school applications work. For every 100 identical-on-paper applicants (GPA, extracurriculars, etc.) there are < 9 med school seats. Med school seats are linked to # of residency spots - can't have 10x more graduating med students than there are residency spots.
@WilliamN78037 @MBDan7 2025: Per CaRMS (Canadian Resident Matching Service), the overall match rate for CDN citizens graduating from CDN med schools to residency spots in Canada was 93.5%.
Actually, make that 3 papers from @MitoMetabLab in the last 3 days 😎 @tmedQueens MSc alumna Dalia Miller's MASLD paper will be online soon in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism 🥳
I'm signing off for the weekend because I think I've wrung the good news sponge for the week!
In what must be some kind of record, @MitoMetabLab's @MiaSWilkinson, @tmedQueens PhD candidate, has had TWO papers accepted in the last 3 days!! Her review is available now, and her research paper describing her murine platelet work will be out soon! 🥳🥳 https://t.co/Kz3RScJ3Ru
@CulturedChem@ThePhDPlace Fair enough. It is something I just offer when meeting with students (I.e., "you are welcome to bring a support person/friend/colleague to listen to this meeting"), but I recognize how if it were a surprise, it could be interpreted that way (which would be unfortunate).
@JeremyClarkson@Rugby1Peter Let them qualify in their actual F1 cars to determine starting order (maybe there's driver points involved), then the race is a Goodwood-esque Festival in historic/legacy vehicles (every team gets same equipment to wrap); winner gets cash purse (like Nascar all-star race).
