@kamillahjamila @edavidsonhed I could not have agreed more with your tweet. We have to prepare these student-athletes in case they don’t make it as a pro. They should be properly guided so that they won’t fail at life.
As we have seen/read, only a small percentage of college athletes make it into the professional world. It is crucial that they get the correct guidance so that they have a back up plan(career) to adjust to their life after college. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@kmart073 @edavidsonhed I couldn’t agree more, the NCAA are a bunch of hypocrites that only like what benefits them instead of their athletes. When do you think change will truly occur?
Student-Athletes are the reason why their school generates so much money. Yet, they can’t even use their own name for sponsorships/endorsements and the NCAA can use it to benefit themselves? There needs to be change so these student-athletes can get paid! #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@zayzayiscrazy @edavidsonhed I agree with your statement, it is sad how women are not put into the same level as men despite playing the same sport. When do you think there will be equality between the two genders once and for all?
Female athletes are treated unfairly in the world of sports. Women should get the same media attention as males do since they are playing the same sport after all. Why aren’t women made a priority like men are when it comes to athleticism? #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@AndrewAlexx123 @edavidsonhed I totally agree with you! It will be a welcoming environment for everyone which will make the campus a lot better! More students will want to join the university instead of avoiding it
Universities should be more diverse in sports so that everyone has an opportunity to participate. These institutions will thrive off of diverse backgrounds and it will make a positive impact on the campus climate.#ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@Alexisr162 @edavidsonhed I am in agreement with your statement! These athletes don’t have the opportunity to demonstrate their academic skills. These low expectations affect the way people see student-athletes, especially in the D1 level.
Teachers still believe in the stereotype of athletes being “dumb.” In reality, they aren’t dumb, they just have more to balance between their studies and practice. These student-athletes deserve better recognition in both aspects. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@zayzayiscrazy @edavidsonhed I agree with you, unfortunately playing a sport and studying is like a full-time job. These athletes train hard to the point that they don’t put emphasis into their education. This results in the athletes getting kicked out of the program for not having good grades.
Student-athletes are hard working individuals who are under a lot of pressure. If they do not perform well academically, then they risk getting kicked out of the sport they have worked hard to be in and vice versa. Balancing these two areas can be difficult. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@SerenaAllen_ @edavidsonhed I agree with everything you stated in this tweet. Yes, sports are entertaining, but education should get more funding. Why is it that sports are always prioritized over education? There is no guarantee that the athlete will have a professional career afterwards.
It is unfair how student-athletes do not get paid enough while the NCAA coaches gain a lot of money from their talent. Meanwhile, these athletes struggle financially. These athletes should be compensated for their hard work in order for it to be fair. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@samlopez167 @edavidsonhed I completely agree with you, it is sad to see that women are not treated equally like men. They work as hard as men do when it comes to the sports they participate in. I hope yo see more equality in the future amongst both genders. #ucr50#edavidsonhed
In the world of sports, women do not get treated equally. Men get more opportunities and compensation for the same sports women play. There should be a change when it comes to female athletes and let there be equality amongst everyone regardless of gender. #ucr50#edavidsonhed
