🚨 SPLC Secretly paid $70,000+ Payments to KKK Leader and Aryan Nations Faction Head to Keep Violent Extremist Groups Alive even though he wanted to leave

Federal investigators found that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) secretly paid a high-ranking white nationalist leader (known as F-30) more than $70,000 in donors’ money while he continued leading multiple violent extremist organizations — even after he told the SPLC he wanted to leave the movement.

F-30 led the National Socialist Party of America, was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, and headed a faction of the Aryan Nations with chapters in approximately 17 states. 🐸

In 2010, F-30 reached out to the SPLC unsolicited, saying he was broke and wanted to leave the white nationalist movement. Instead of helping him exit, an SPLC employee offered him a monthly salary of ~$2,500 plus expenses to continue leading and maintaining the violent extremist organization he had asked to leave.

THEN… An SPLC employee provided false documentation to Bank-2 identifying F-30 as a “Rare Books” employee. Using this materially false representation, F-30 was issued a Rare Books employee pay card.

From 2010 through 2016, the SPLC moved more than $70,000 in donors’ money from its operating account, through the “CIA account,” into the Rare Books account, and onto F-30’s pay card.

Additional donor funds were sent via Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers.

F-30 used the SPLC funds to travel to and host extremist rallies, donate to other extremist leaders, recruit new members (inside and outside prison), publish racist and extremist material for recruitment, and produce racist paraphernalia to sell at rallies — all while certain SPLC employees knew exactly what the money was being used for and continued the secret payments.

During the exact same period, the SPLC maintained a dedicated “Extremist File” webpage about F-30 on its own website and used it to solicit more public donations.

The Southern Poverty Law Center Secretly Paid a Neo-Nazi Over $1.2 Million in Donor Money, and DIRECTED the Burglaries of Documents to encourage Fundraising

Federal investigators discovered SPLC paid informant F-9 more than $1,200,000 in donors’ money during the period covered by the indictment — most of it funneled covertly through a “Tech Writers” bank account — while F-9 had been on the SPLC payroll for over 20 years!

At the SPLC’s direction, F-9 infiltrated the neo-Nazi National Alliance and simultaneously fundraised for the extremist group while receiving SPLC donor funds.
2014 burglary and document theft: F-9 allegedly broke into an extremist organization’s headquarters, stole approximately 25 boxes of documents, and transported them across state lines from West Virginia to North Carolina.

With full knowledge (KNOWINGLY) of SPLC Employee-2, donor money was used to copy the stolen files; F-9 then broke in a second time to return the originals.

“Hatewatch” story used for fundraising: Employee-2 allegedly based a published “Hatewatch” article on the stolen documents, which the SPLC then used to solicit additional donations from the public.

INDICTMENT: Southern Poverty Law Center Secretly Paid $4.1M Donor Money to Secret Violent Extremists

1. Secret “Fs” Network Since the 1980s:
The SPLC allegedly ran a covert operation paying individuals who were either active in — or had infiltrated — violent extremist organizations. Internally, these people were called “field sources” or simply “the Fs.” The SPLC paid them with donor money.

2. $4.1 Million in Donor Funds Funnelled Through Fake Accounts:
Between roughly 2010 and 2023, the SPLC is accused of secretly routing about $4.1 million in tax-exempt donations through fictitious accounts specifically to pay these Fs — many of whom were leaders or members of multiple violent extremist groups.

3. The Money Funded Real Extremist Operations:
According to the indictment, the Fs used the cash for:
• Attending and hosting extremist rallies nationwide
• Growing existing hate-group chapters and creating brand-new ones
• Recruiting fresh members
• Donating to extremist leaders
• Buying materials for cross burnings
• Purchasing supplies to make Ku Klux Klan robes and hoods
• Creating racist propaganda sold at events
• Publishing extremist literature for recruitment
• Covering everyday living expenses so the Fs could focus full-time on extremism instead of regular jobs

4. SPLC Insiders Knew Exactly What Was Happening:
Certain SPLC employees allegedly knew the Fs were using the donor money to actively recruit new members and expand violent extremist organizations.

5. Donors Were Allegedly Deceived:
While the SPLC’s public appeals told donors their money would “dismantle” violent extremist groups and fight hate, the organization is accused of hiding the truth: a chunk of those donations was secretly propping up the very groups and activities the SPLC publicly condemned.

The indictment also notes that during this same period the SPLC’s reported annual revenue skyrocketed from roughly $38.7 million in 2010 to over $129 million.
