@OHAinContext I would just correct the "for covid" to "with covid" as even Graven admits half those admitted are for completely unrelated issues. It doesn't change how the hospital must treat the individual but it does change public perception of risk.
@OHAinContext@fazzam_eth Very true, CDC says five days is fine, I would say 7-10 more reasonable among those symptomatic. Regardless it's an estimate. I will say the IHME estimate on Hospital bed usage estimated 860 beds on 1/6 and it was really 625 so the estimates are likely off a bit.
@fazzam_eth@OHAinContext We won't come close to that. Arguably because of lack of testing, but also because there's not a 14 days infectious period. It's more like half that, especially with a large portion of infections among the young and/or vaccinated.
@OHAinContext@gf_traveller It's from all cases. I believe they don't provide a chart in similar format that gives the level of data that the breakthrough report does on a week to week basis, which is frustrating.
@OHAinContext@gf_traveller It's not "about the same" and "highly similar" though. For most age groups the CHR is an order of magnitude of 2-4 times lower in the predominate vaccinated age groups in Oregon. That's not insignificant.
@_Brad_Schmidt I am pro vaccine but don't approve of forced vaccine passports for public activities. If a private business wants to choose to require that then it should be their choice, not the government's requirement.
@citizen_oregon@_Brad_Schmidt@tedsickinger No one is making policy decisions based on Eric's hypothesis but they are based on Graven's. I don't understand the need to defend or prop up a flawed model. This model is used in policy decisions that will effect us all, to defend it rather than look critically is disingenuous.
@_Brad_Schmidt Hillsborough county has a daily infection rate of 106.6/100,000 while Multnomah is 5 times less at 20.1/100,000. There's really no comparison here.
