When an APK is worth it: you want others to install your site with your own name and icon, full screen, no address bar. Free App Maker builds and previews free; the signed APK is a one-time unlock priced by country. Inside it's still your live site, same speed, no push alerts.
What a shortcut won't do: it opens inside Chrome, usually with a small Chrome badge on the icon, and it lives on your phone only. You can't hand it to customers to install. If the site is an installable PWA, Chrome offers Install instead and it opens full screen.
The honest limit: it wraps your site, it does not make it faster or add push alerts. The APK installs and shares straight away. Listing it on Google Play also needs Google's own $25 developer account and an AAB, which our Play Store Pack covers.

Two things to test before you share it. Base44's email sign-in works inside the app as normal; Google sign-in usually opens a browser tab and comes back, one extra step. And settle your URL first: if you edit it in Base44, the old link stops and the APK needs a rebuild.
@antonioivski@dannymoerkerke TWA traps worth knowing: PWABuilder or Bubblewrap generates the AAB. assetlinks.json needs the SHA-256 of Play's app signing key, not just your upload key, or users see a URL bar on top. Web push keeps working. New personal Play accounts still need 12 testers for 14 days.
@KhanjanKavani One way to keep the date: run the closed test from a Google Group instead of an email list. Anyone who joins the group can install from Play, so Dhanteras can still be a launch, just labelled beta, and everyone who joins counts toward your 12.
@floydianteacher@Dexerto For a class quiz, the $25 is worth it only if you will keep updating it. A new personal account also needs 12 testers for 14 days first, and apps aimed at kids must meet Play's Families policy. Cheaper start: deploy it to a public link and students play in the browser.
Two costs, kept apart: the $25 developer fee goes to Google, once. Our Play Store Pack is the AAB, signing key, graphics, privacy policy and form answers, one-time and priced by country. You upload it yourself, and nobody can promise approval.
๐ Publishing on Google Play? Personal accounts may need 12 testers for 14 days. Org accounts require business verification.

Every app also needs a privacy policy at a public link, the content rating questionnaire and the Data Safety form, even one that collects nothing. If your site runs Google Analytics, that counts as collecting data, so declare it.
Then switch Auto Blocker back on. It also blocks commands sent over a USB cable and checks images that arrive in messaging apps. Your installed app keeps working; you only switch it off again to install an update by hand.
๐ฑ Samsung Galaxy wonโt install your APK? ๐ Auto Blocker might be the culprit!
Disable it temporarily, install your trusted APK, then turn it back on. ๐

Once it is off, Android still asks once to allow installs from the app you opened the file in, like Files, Chrome or Drive. A fresh build may also get a Play Protect warning: tap More details, then Install anyway, only for a file you trust.
