Kids (including me when I was one) have gone to school in the dark in winter in 5 of the 7 states I’ve lived in. It’s not particularly unusual. I agree that the 2x a year time change is by far the best compromise but if we must go with just one - it must be DST not Standard. Year round Standard would give us 3:29am dawns in summer where I live (and almost a half hour earlier than that in places like Maine). Literally wasted light at the expense of the glories of late summer evenings. The worst that permanent DST would do is give me a 5:16pm dead of winter sunset instead of the depressing AF 4:16pm we currently have in Standard. 🤷♂️. This bill allows any state to choose to do standard year round, just like they can choose to do now though only AZ and HI have chosen to do so. So if that works for your state, knock yourself out. Just don’t mandate it federally for the rest of us for whom it makes no sense and would give us dawn’s before 3:30am.
