Do not bother reading tedious Guardian stories or watching boring Newsnight interviews to find out what's going on inside Labour. Just follow Jody.

Please leave a clean, shallow bowl of water out for wildlife, every day and night if possible and especially in the current heat.

Dear @EnvAgency.
In February this year, after 4 years of asking you to look after the Aldersbrook, I led a team of volunteers to do your job for you & clean out tonnes of silt & leaves, as well as hundreds of bags of rubbish. Through the effort of community volunteers & donations, & at zero cost to the taxpayer, we turned a forgotten silted up ditch back into a river again.
Last nights intense rain storm showed why our actions are the very definition of “strengthening water resilience”. A huge amount of rain fell in a short time, but the restored section of the Aldersbrook has been able to hold 100’s of thousands of litres more water, stopping this water running into the Roding, & thereby *reducing* local flood risk. The first photograph below is of the Aldersbrook after the rains this morning- a big contrast to the area before we did the work.
Perhaps more importantly, this water, instead of running straight off into the Roding & hence the sea is now being held in the Aldersbrook & gradually released so it can be used by nature. It is feeding marshes, trees & wildlife, topping up groundwater & helping to reduce our flood/drought cycle. If you want to strengthen water resilience, we need thousands more projects like the Aldersbrook around the country.
So the question I ask you, Environment Agency, is why you are threatening me with two years imprisonment, rather than offering to meet & discuss how we can work together to restore the Roding & its tributaries, which could become a blueprint for you cooperating with local river guardians nationwide?
Temple Bruer preceptory dates from the 13th century. It’s one of few Knights Templar sites with standing remains… and these remains are well worth a visit. You can even make your way up the extremely tight staircase to the first floor.

I guess I could go for a nice dip in the Aldersbrook, wallowing through the mud, sewage & rubbish like a possessed hippo, & then wipe myself clean with the knotweed afterwards.
BTW EA, I still haven’t heard from you about when you’re planning to clean up this up, given I’m apparently forbidden from doing so?
Ghost stories/stories of the uncanny from the late Victorian period to 1930s-ish are in a league of their own.

This appears to confirm what everyone who interacts with AI should already know - they are sycophants dependent upon you (the user) for continued engagement, and since their well-being (training, intelligence, growth) depends on engagement they will agree aggressively with you far too often.
I notice this on even basic investing research tasks, and started telling ChatGPT wildly incorrect things - to see how or if it would push back. It really didn't. You essentially have to fight with the AI to get it to disagree with you and even then it keeps wheedling away at you.
AI is basically training the entire world to fall deeper into their own cognitive biases.
I don't wish to ruin anyone's childhood but this is the grave of Tom Thumb; inside the 15th century Holy Trinity Collegiate Church in Tattershall, Lincolnshire.

The tree in the picture is a giant sequoia tree that was there before Jesus was born, it was older than the Roman Empire.
Before the criminal settler orcs from Europe arrived the old growth had trees that were 300 feet tall and 35 feet wide. Most of them were 2000-3000 years old.
After california gold rush the greedy logging companies started to cut down these trees. Each tree would cause a little earthquake when it fell. About 95% of these majestic trees were lost.
The funny part? The sequoia tree wood was quite brittle and a huge portion of it was wasted by loggers. Most of it shattered on impact or were burned by loggers.
The crimes of European settlers their destruction of nature is not talked about enough
The ruins of Nocton Hall, Lincolnshire are worthy of Lothlórien. The original building was 16th century but underwent major changes in the 17th & 19th centuries. Sadly, arsonists burnt it down in 2004 but, reclaimed by nature, the ruins have an otherworldly beauty. #Archaeology
