@AndrewGspeedrun Homeschool up til high school is the way imo. So long as the kid has neighbors, a church, sports teams, camp, or whatever to get socialization in before then.
@Kumesicles Worst flaws of the game:
requiring all the extra magic containers for Thunder is criminal game design.
Having to randomly hammer one tile of trees for the secret village was the only thing I've ever had to look up in any Zelda game to beat it, idk how people did pre-internet.
@AUsername360@Mr_Prosthetics While I do agree that most of the islands could've used a little more time, love, and care to them, there really is a ton of unique sea platforms, grottos, subs, and other stuff all over the world, I genuinely think WW has the most content-rich overworld in the series.
@cartkun@RogersBase The only one I can think of (which I did appreciate) was each dungeon being more visually distinct and themed, what examples are you thinking of?
@natisneato I would say play it mostly blind, but if you get stuck, there is no shame in looking up a hint of where to find a dungeon or something like that. Or look up where all the optional heart containers are at the start! That makes a very difficult game a bit more reasonable.
@stevenmartini@MichaelFKane I really liked ALBW, but this game really started the trend of "choose your order" of dungeons, which killed the difficulty curve and sense of progression ever since.
@MichaelFKane I go back and forth between liking OoT and Alttp better, but I dont think there is any doubt in my mind that A Link to the Past aged better.
@kerrholden They put a big rock over the kakariko well because they didn't want people glitching down into it early, instead of actually working to fix the glitches that allow it. Items despawn way too fast because they didn't account for the 30fps, No way OoT is a gold standard of a remake
Donkey Kong Country 2's map design is exceptionally elegant in that it uses each of the game's 13 level themes exactly thrice each, without using any of them more than twice in a row. This is accomplished via several clever uses of the environment.
