@marwilliamson@RepJackKimble The reason any of this matters is because this constant misguided historical reporting on the Iraq war fuels MAGA-isolationism which has prevented us from helping Ukraine drive Russia out of Ukraine.
@marwilliamson@RepJackKimble Also we did not kill 1M Iraqis. That number is from a Lancet article and counts Iraqis killing each other in a civil war, not only deaths caused by coalition forces. The methodology was highly suspect and excess deaths was probably much lower.
@anno1540@JDVance I like most of this, but Ukraine cannot win alone. We need a shock-and-awe campaign of NATO airstrikes on Russian forces in Ukraine. Think Operation Cobra III.
@Microinteracti1@JDVance Dear Ukraine Supporters: stop talking only about arming Ukraine. Ukraine cant win alone. Start talking about a full-scale NATO air campaign backing a fully supplied Ukrainian counteroffensive. That is the only thing that will work. Trump wants an endgame. Give him one.
@JDVance Re pt 2: you do not need Russia’s agreement on anything. We need to impose an end game on Russia with NATO airstrikes and a fully supied Ukrainian army. The war would be over in weeks when Putin realizes he has no chance of winning and will in fact loose Crimea.
@JDVance Re pts 1 and 3, your plan caps Ukraine’s forces and has no cap on Russian forces near Ukraine. By appeasing Russia with land, as Europe appeased Hilter with the Sudetenland, you are setting up WW3, except this time the psycho-dictator starts with nukes.
@JDVance Hire me as your Ukraine czar and I will have this war wrapped up in weeks. The plan is straightforward: set a goal of removing Russia in 12 weeks, resource the goal, and communicate the goal repeatedly, with words and airstrikes, until Putin leaves Ukraine.
@JDVance The reality is that we have never done enough to help Ukraine win. We need to flood Ukraine with weapons, remove restrictions, and then begin NATO airstrikes on all Russian targets in Ukraine. That will end the war very quickly and be cheaper in the long run.
@GOP4Ukraine The Republican solution in Ukraine is victory. Set the goal: drive Russia from Ukraine In 3 months. Then resource that goal. Stop the appeasement. Start the airstrikes.
@joeydiblasi@marcthiessen Public service announcement: the liberation of Iraq worked. We should learn the lesson and win the war in Ukraine https://t.co/MW7BWyZduB
@JohnKross20@marcthiessen Coalition led by Iraqi PM Sudani comes first in Iraq’s election, commission says - https://t.co/MW7BWyZduB
Iraq is a boring democracy now
@secretsqrl123 NATO needs to get kinetically involved in Ukraine with massive airstrikes to drive Russia out of Ukraine’s Budapest Memorandum agreed borders. Nothing else will end this war and the threat from Putin.
@JPManga I get that you did not have a lot more space for nuance. But Chief of War, your article, and Hawaiian history are worthy of more nuance. You did an excellent job, but you fell short in key areas, and missed an opportunity to write something truly great.
@JPManga This is the second weakness of your article’s using the word “colonizers” distracts from the truth. It was the Hawaiian government that required English language teaching in schools, not colonizers. Even during the monarchy everyone was learning English.
@JPManga The more valuable story is to tell the truth. To tell everyone that the monarchy was no different than most monarchy’s: corrupt, inept, and unworthy of power. The triumph of our people has been to move from tribes to monarchy to democracy, faster and with less bloodshed than most
@JPManga But the leaders, Thurston and WO Smith, were in fact born and raised in Hawaii. They existed within the same complex political environment that Chief of War so excellently displays. And by ignoring that, you diminish the value of your article.
