Pictured during Tuesday’s hearing of the full House Foreign Affairs Committee, I questioned expert witnesses about international efforts to jointly confront and suppress Haiti’s terrorist gangs, which control much of the capital city of Port-au-Prince. Testifying were the Honorable Michael Kozak of the U.S. Department of State and Colonel Justin Gorkowski of the U.S. Department of War.

It is a delight to celebrate Manu’a Flag Day with our people and Governor Pulaali’i Nikolao Pula. We honor Manu’a’s forefathers, our Toa o Samoa, and the islands of Ta’u, Ofu, and Olosega. May God bless Manu’a!

American Samoa has a proud military tradition, with generations of Samoans serving our nation with honor. Staff from Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata’s office recently participated in Marine Day at Quantico, gaining firsthand insight into Marine Corps readiness and the needs of service members and military families. Semper Fidelis. #MarineDay

May is AAPI Heritage Month - a time to honor the history, cultures, and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders across the United States.

For American Samoa and Pacific Islanders nationwide, this is a meaningful opportunity to celebrate our traditions, faith, family values, and the generations whose hard work and service have strengthened our Nation.

During National Police Week, I thank our law enforcement officers for their dedication and service to our communities. We rely on their professionalism, readiness, and sacrifice each day. Peace Officers Memorial Day is a poignant reminder of the sacrifice of thousands of officers and their families.

Illegal fishing hurts our people and our economy.

The FISH Act strengthens enforcement with tougher inspections, penalties, and vessel tracking.

Protecting our waters. Protecting our future.

Happy 118th birthday to the U.S. Army Reserve (est. April 23, 1908). Grateful for generations of service, including our Toa o Samoa serving across the Pacific with the 9th MSC.

I am saddened by the passing of Governor Lolo Letalu Matalasi Moliga. He was a strong and decisive leader, and above all a man of faith. He has a secure place in American Samoa’s history. My deepest condolences to Cynthia Moliga and the entire Moliga family.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend, Chairman LaMalfa. He was elected one term before I was, so I’ve known him throughout my time in Congress. He faithfully represented the people of his large, agricultural district of inland Northern California.
