I cannot think of anything that would make a dad feel more cool and badass than having his kids introducing him for a bagpipe performance. That's got to be a core memory.
I was looking for photos of my younger brother because it is his 36th birthday (insane), and I found this pic of me and my brother introducing my dad for a bagpipe performance at my elementary school in 1997.
I always thought my dad playing the bagpipes was so cool and badass because not only did it celebrate our Scottish heritage, but it’s also REALLY FUCKING HARD and takes a ton of skill. But after this my classmates mocked me endlessly because “my dad wears a skirt.” I went to him crying, he laughed and told me that our ancestors were some of the fiercest warriors on the planet and they did it all while wearing “skirts.”
My dad passed in 2014, but he was an amazing man who taught me to never back down to bullies.
@ClaireMax I cannot think of anything that would make a dad feel more cool and badass than having his kids introducing him for a bagpipe performance. I promise you that he cherished that memory forever.
