Nigeria readily has 36-year-olds still struggling to find their footing, alongside 19-year-olds who are outwardly high-functioning but already exhausted and depressed.

People of every age are deprived not only of tangible things, but of the ordinary conditions that make a life feel liveable: a functional public transport system, a public park where one can sit and decompress after a day’s work, the time and money to visit a loved one, the leisure to pursue romance, and the basic freedom to imagine a future beyond survival.

And yet, people will look at one’s hatred of that thing in Aso Rock and everything it represents and say, “Don’t be emotional about politics.”

But people are concerned about governance precisely because governance determines the texture of their lives. Nigerian sociological debates are rarely centred on what social security should provide, what a humane immigration or residency system should look like, or how a society ought to accommodate the needs of its people. More often, the conversation is: “70 people were killed last night, and 150 displaced.”

Those who reduce all of this to cheap political talking points are perhaps fortunate that Nigerians are not quite the things they sometimes claim to be. In some societies, supporting a government that presides over this degree of dysfunction would not merely cost you friendships or social approval, you would genuinely worry about your safety.

People are dying like rats, the systems of human livelihood has been purposely destroyed, and they want to preach about civility. Lol, I blame those debating.

Dear Nigerians, I need you to help me get @MTNNG attention as every means we have tried has failed. Help me repost as many times as possible.

Six days ago, my household purchased MTN fibre X because the remote job my sister got requested for a fibre network and specifically running at 300mbps. This was a criteria for getting the job which was to start on Monday, 7th of September, 2026.

MTN sent an installer to my house and after installation, the guy confirmed it was working and running on 50mbps, we immediately corrected him that we paid for the premium plan, a hundred thousand naira, which is 300mbps, while the basic plan (50mbps) is 30 thousand naira.

He simply said, that's a back end problem, my job here is done.

Since Last week Saturday till now MTN has refused to do anything about it. We have called their care line over 300 times and have sent series of emails. We have sent several messages here on X per their request, yet they leave us hanging the moment we send the details they need with no tangible solution or response.

One week has gone out of a one month plan my sister has been unable to use. I beg MTN To either refund us, or fix this situation and the data must start counting from when it was fixed.

Last year my junior brother scored 306 in @jamb_hq. A score that should’ve opened doors, not slammed them shut in his face. He went ahead to apply for Medicine and Surgery @KwasuOfficial a course with 270-300 cut off mark. They refused him and didn’t even change his course or offer him any course in the related field. No explanation that made sense.

This year he sat for jamb again came back with 301 applying for Medical Laboratory Science. Same school. Same hope. Same fear. And once again the signs are clear they will snub him. SECOND BATCH ADMISSION LIST CAME OUT TODAY AND TO MY UTMOST SHOCK SOMEONE IN THE SAME GROUP WITH HIM WITH A SCORE OF 242 GOT THE SAME COURSE HE CAN’T GET WITH 301 because the real requirement is not the JAMB score printed on a slip. it is the ability to “buy a slot” CASH OVER COMPETENCE. CONNECTION OVER CAPABILITY.

@KwasuOfficial, how do you look at 306 and a 301 and still turn away a child who has done everything right? you are supposed to be an institution of learning. instead you’ve become another marketplace where DREAMS ARE PRICED and the HIGHEST BIDDER WINS. @.Prof.Shaykh-Lukman is this the LEGACY you’re laying down as the VC of kwasu? when i was there 2023, it wasn’t this bad.

@jamb_hq, you set the exams. you publish the scores and tell the entire nation these numbers matter. Then hand over the children to institutions that treat those numbers like decoration. What is the point of your CUT-OFF marks when the real CUT-OFF is the THICKNESS of the parent’s wallet or the STRENGTH of a godfather’s call? @profsegunaina is this the legacy you’d love to be remembered for?

And the government just sit and watch the education system turn into a shambles of corruption, this is a slow murder of hope. The pain is not only his. It is every parent who scraped together money for jamb forms and textbooks. It is the quiet rage of knowing the system is rigged and still being forced to play in it. You have made EXCELLENCE optional and CORRUPTION compulsory.

We are not asking for CHARITY. We are demanding that a 301 and a 306 mean something again. That a child who did the work is not discarded so that someone else's "slot" can be sold. Yes. The money is sent to Rome. It is used to direct humanitarian aid funded by the Pope. This includes emergency funding for natural disasters, war relief, refuge support, and funding for impoverished dioceses across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The money collected also helps in funding the central administration that serves the Church worldwide, such as running diplomatic missions (Nunciatures) that advocate for local populations and supporting missionary territories that cannot support themselves financially.

I work in one of the most imporverished dioceses in the world, and I feel their impact and help.
