At the end of the day, Man City did what bigger clubs do. They recruited from a rival. They took Chelsea’s manager, then they took one of Chelsea’s best players.

This is the kind of thing Abramovich’s Chelsea used to do to other clubs when we wanted to compete. We would go into a club, take their manager, take their best player, and send a message.

Now Man City have done exactly that to Chelsea.

And if Chelsea fans can’t see what that says about the club right now, then I don’t know what to tell you.

They’ve also let the new manager down. They briefed that they wouldn’t sell if it meant disrupting Xabi Alonso’s season, but that is exactly what they’ve done.

They disrupted the season, sold an important player, failed to properly replace him, and now expect the manager to use two right backs in midfield.
