Kitui Hikers Club in conjunction with Nairobi based Born To Lead (BTL) Mountain Adventures on Saturday scaled Ulonzo Hills as part of their development journey.
The event was officially flagged off by Kitui Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani who also serves as the CECM for Tourism
Chief Officer for Tourism, Hospitality, and Game Reserves, Fedinard Kathenge was also in attendance.
This event marks a continuation of the momentum built since Governor Dr. Julius Malombe launched the Kitui Tourism Circuit last year.
Later on Friday, Governor Malombe commissioned the Mbitini Health Centre outpatient block and the renovated maternity wing in the facility.
He was concluding his devโt tour of Mbitini ward where residents exuded confidence in his administration's efforts to improve their lives.
The project includes a 30-metre, 1.5-inch rising main pipeline from the borehole to elevated water tanks, and a 100-metre distribution line to the Kwa Nganya water kiosk.
The project forms part of wider efforts to expand water coverage across Kitui County.
Drilled under the CLIDP Programme, the 4 cubic-metre, solar-powered project valued at KSh 5.69 million will serve an estimated 350 households.
The project is designed to serve Kwa Nganya, and the proposed Kwa Mwendwa and Kwa Pastor Reuben water kiosks and Isovya Primary.
The Governor also commissioned the dispensaryโs outpatient block, renovated by the county government to enhance the delivery of medical services to residents.
Dr Malombe was on a development tour of the Mbitini ward in Kitui Rural Subcounty.
Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe on Friday commissioned the Kitungati Dispensary maternity unit, which was constructed and equipped by his administration.
The project is in line with his governmentโs plan to improve healthcare services across the county and enhance access to quality maternal and outpatient care for residents.
Area MCA Cornelius Muthami commended the project saying it will boost healthcare services in the area.
There are plans to extend the pipeline to Kathonzweni Shopping Centre and Mui Dispensary through Musokani, with an ultimate target population of 1,000 households.
Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe today commissioned the KSh 17 million KakiโKilali Sump Well Water Supply Project to increase water supply in the area.
It comprises a submersible pump and accessories, a rising main pipeline, distribution lines, air valves, washouts, a 100-cubic-metre masonry water tank, a guard house, solar modules, a pit latrine, and three water kiosks serving an estimated 1500 people.
The Governor said he initiated the project following the death of renowned constitutional lawyer Nzamba Kitonga in 2020, describing the hospital as a lasting tribute to his contribution to the country.
Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe and Defence Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru on Thursday unveiled the plaque for the Nzamba Kitonga Memorial Hospital in Mutitu/Kaliku Ward, Kitui East Sub-County in a major step towards strengthening healthcare services in the county.
The specialized facility will focus on treatment of respiratory and infectious diseases and serve residents from Kitui East and other parts of the county.
