Two back to back headlines on my twitter feed today that truly characterize our challenges for the tourism industry this summer: Tweet "1: Nova Scotia marks 12 days with no new cases" and 2: "Covid-19 crushes Nova Scotia's tourism season" Where is the middle ground?
@PaulNursey@checknews Well written article. Its staggering to think of the impact that tourism has on our overall economy. Crossing our fingers for action!
Thanks @checknews for continuing to cover our industry. Op-Ed: B.C. tourism’s most important indicators show much of sector on life support https://t.co/4QBtOfQL9D
Important perspective on protecting our air service. What has taken decades to secure air routes can be list in the blink of an eye. We need evidence based solutions to reopening our tourism economy and not fear and ambiguous messages.
Good article on the need to begin flying again. It is safe. No cases of transfer on flights in Canada. We may want to keep things closed, but we will begin to lose flights and destinations. @HIAACEO @halifaxchamber @StephenMcNeil https://t.co/UOYFR2j8zR
We need an evidence based solution to opening up tourism that minimizes risk but that also allows for a careful reopening of our tourism economy. Some resorts are doing fine but our cities are not ok. Safety and economics can work together. We need common sense now
The collapse of Canada’s travel and tourism sector would have broad economic and social impacts that would be devastating for millions of Canadians. To counteract this, it’s #TimeToTravel. Read the open letter from union leaders here: https://t.co/Rlxf6EZmjV
The travel, tourism and hospitality industries have come together to form the Canadian Travel & Tourism Roundtable. We’re working to save the sector by saving the summer travel season. It’s #timetotravel. See our open letter at https://t.co/2ElMyGiAEv
@efesevin@PlaceBrandOBS Tourism needs to be managed strategically, or the blunt instrument of regulation, like in Barcelona, will rule and nobody likes regulation
@PlaceBrandOBS Barcelona has an enviable opportunity to increase yield from travelers over the volume strategy they have been pursuing. Thats the strategy
