@churchtalkative Likewise, God rarely calls the ready, he makes you ready through faith. Be prepared to do all things in service to the Lord and answer "Yes Lord, here I am, send me" whether you feel ready or not.
@5Solas Respectfully, this is Ad Hominem. I implore, Instead of attacking the messenger, address the message. Seek to win the person in love, not arguments.
@5Solas An outsider looking in might see this as either a framing problem (missing the mark) or moving the goalpost problem (avoiding the mark), when what I see is often a humility problem.
@autocorrect2_0 There are people who come to church and openly argue politics during Bible study causing divisions. I always work to steer conversations back to what the Bible says, what Jesus says. It somehow diffuses the arguments fast, brings the temp down and I’ve begun to see healing.
@realMaalouf This is spiritual warfare. I pray if you haven’t recently, start opening your Bible and praying in Jesus’s name about this. His word is true.
@churchtalkative I’m reminded the more I look at timing of the exodus, the 40 years wandering had to happen before the power of Egypt fell away in Canaan, opening the way for the Israelites.
@autocorrect2_0 Just about every religion on earth claims miracles. Further digging often reveals lies, contradictions or lack of witnesses willing to die under persecution without earthly benefit for what they believe they saw. Most are the opposite, attempting by force what they lack in faith
@autocorrect2_0 The worst part of legalism is holding others to a standard you yourself can’t keep. Hypocrisy is what Jesus warns against over and over. Matthew 6:14
@churchtalkative I’m curious about how this compares to Jacob wrestling with God. Was it Jacob’s lack of faith? The vision of the ladder/stairs from Heaven of angels coming and going seems to be saying God is active, not passive and that’s reassuring.
@autocorrect2_0 This is something that I find troubling at any church that guards communion jealously. I get why yet nothing stops someone from being catechized and lying about it. It seems to be another way of communing privately and selfishly rather than in honor of Christ.
@DataRepublican Exactly. Entrepreneurial types tend to be merit focused and value truth seeking. Those who filter into leadership after tend to be hierarchical thinkers and value credentials and unfalsifiable statements over the harsh truth.
@Truth_matters20 There are parallels in the Bible anytime the word דִּבָּה (slander/ bad report) is used. The first being Gen 37:2 which started the journey into slavery and the second was Num 13:22 when they were so close to returning home. Caleb and Joshua abstaining from slander is important.
@PoeticStreets@5Solas We should not take the Lords name in vain (including supporting evil messages as Christians) and do all things for the Lord and the betterment of others first. -
1 Corinthians 10:23-33
@howertonjosh@TimDavidBarton Rom 13 -“..there is no authority except that which God has established.” - The danger is to struggle like Pergamos, with the idolatry of nation, politics and corruption above Jesus. Remember that.
@autocorrect2_0 Thank you, I’ll check out the videos. After reading over and over, one thing I understand: Whether Jesus returns in my lifetime or not, he is coming quickly and we will all see him soon enough. Millions of Christians are already with him before me, but I am here at his pleasure.
