Wrote my first X article about my concerns about mental health in the AI age.
If you have interest in the intersection between technology and psychology, give it a read.

@BobTells I get it. My parents own their house and even they’re considering moving to rent in their later years so they no longer have to deal with maintenance of a house. It’s kind of a sweet deal, ngl
Caleb’s right about Americans being obsessed with buying a house.
Husband and I have no plans to buy a house before
a) we decide we want to settle down in an area
b) we have more passive income/our own business
Having a house isn’t even on our list of priorities, yet everyone has asked us when we got married, when we got pregnant, when we got job raises, every milestone if we’re going to buy a house.
I like renting. We don’t have to mow, handyman fixes anything within 24 hours, it’s cheap, we can invest more, we know the locals in our area, we can raise family here, why is buying a home everyone’s priority?
Another obsession in American is having a house meanwhile the American dreaming isn’t owning a house anymore - Caleb Hammer
“It’s the freedom of renting, cause you can live wherever you want, you can move for a job easily”
“With the incredible stock markets that we’ve had over the past 50 years, it beats it every time if you rent and just put your money into the stocks market”
My guess (having lived in Frisco) is that they’d rather keep things under wraps. It’s a nice area, nice people. Probably just don’t want the bad press and find it’s more important to allow him due process. Maybe post-trial they’ll release the details publicly.
Also, from what I’ve heard of the video, it’s pretty blurry and low quality. So you see shapes and blobs but not detailing and I’m sure it’s all subjective
@trumpingaintez@BillJohnsavag3@jdmiles11 Unfortunately not. They haven’t (won’t?) publicize the video. Lots of news people have seen it and somewhere there’s a detailed breakdown of the video. I think if you ask Grok, it should find it for you
@trumpingaintez@BillJohnsavag3@jdmiles11 Actually they showed the video either yesterday or two days ago and all witnesses said it wasn’t a shove or a push but more like he went to grab his shoulder. Before he even pushed him, Karmelo had stabbed him. They said it was almost like a “fluid one movement motion”
@anushkaa_tanwar At 24, I was making ≈$50,000 working 25ish hours a week.
At 25, I was making ≈$75,000 working full time.
Both were living in Dallas at the time
Mental health institutions are cool, but under current regulations, they’ll continue to be reserved for the very worst of the worst, and not for people who just need help.
As of right now, there exists facilities where people can admit themselves. But many suffer from anosognosia and think nothing is wrong with them.
There needs to be a way for others to have some admitted that isn’t just showing proof of “danger to self or others” that also maintains the rights of the individual.
Don’t think this is a race issue. I grew up and have lived in diverse areas of Florida, Texas, and New Mexico and the only place I’ve ever been catcalled has been in New York.
It’s a state culture thing I feel. Catcalling doesn’t fly so well in the south, where women will fire back. In NY, people mostly stay quiet and ignore.
@valkdoesthings@Jedstrikesback@notanerable@parodyinaskirt@femboyliberty Not even considering southern Louisiana. You’ll have people speaking Creole languages or full fledged French. Some of the accents out that way are so strong that you can’t understand them even when speaking English.
You can only eat one of the 76 American Regional Cuisines listed below for the rest of your life. Which one are you choosing?

And it’ll really ruin your night to be in New Mexico where you can buy alcohol at practically all hours of the day at any gas station then travel to Texas and find out you can’t purchase any alcohol after 9pm and it’s reserved to liquor stores and never on a Sunday or major holidays
