The kindest act from a random stranger on Christmas morning that changed my life ....

On Christmas morning in 2013 at my darkest moment in life struggling with mental health and drug addiction I slept in this doorway in Vancouver.

A woman I didn’t know woke me up, gave me a coffee, a hug, 50 dollars, wished me a "Merry Christmas" and walked away. I was shocked to say the least, and I have never seen her again.

I’ve never forgotten that kind stranger — I think about her all the time, especially today.

I would want her to know that her kindness motivated me to seek help and change my life,

I would also want her to know that I'm no longer alone, have my own family now and help others who are in the same position I once was.

Merry Christmas to you and to everyone — especially people who don't have much today. Remember, if you see someone who’s homeless it doesn't take much to be kind ....
