We urge city, state, and federal legislators around the country to adopt the Responsible Warrant Execution Act. We believe that No-Knocks will only be fully stopped when No-Knocks are banned AND responsible procedures are set forth. Our model legislation is available right here:
Amir Locke’s parents' fierce advocacy for the elimination of no-knock warrants in the year since their son was shot death, as a no-knock warrant was being served, is a big reason why Judicial and Public Safety Bill SF2909 is on the way to be signed by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. ✊🏾
Andre Locke, the father of Amir: “Minnesota has a responsibility to its citizens to ensure police officers are properly trained, and understand how to de-escalate interactions with civilians and value human life.” https://t.co/giTBZ2VEqn
RECOMMENDATIONS: St. Louis’s new knock-and-announce policy is a step in the right direction. However, KFMN recommends nighttime restrictions, a 30 second minimum waiting period, and explicit language requiring robust and mandatory recordkeeping (6/6)
Over the summer, St. Louis’s mayor signed an executive order banning the use of no-knock warrants by the city’s police department. In this thread, we will be evaluating this order using our Five Elements of Responsible Warrant Execution (1/6)

ELEMENT 5: Recordkeeping. The order makes no reference to recordkeeping or public disclosures. We suggest stronger recordkeeping requirements and public transparency to increase accountability (5/6)
Knock First MN has returned from our summer hiatus. We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to continue this important initiative. Stay tuned for updates coming soon.
Thank you for supporting Knock First Minnesota. We believe that everyone should have a chance to answer the door. We are beyond excited to see how the next team of students handles this project.
Knock First MN is a student-run organization at UST Law’s Interprofessional Center. All of us graduate in May, and will be leaving our project in the hands of Professor Carl Warren and the next set of students. As such, this account will go on a summer hiatus and return in fall.
KARE 11 Investigates: New data shows every no-knock warrant executed by Minneapolis police from Sept. through January only targeted people of color – none involved whites. https://t.co/yR8YZ5E8U4
Today's Minnesota Department of Human Rights report reveals what we already knew about No-Knock Warrants in Minneapolis: that the city's messages about these procedures has been confusing at best and at dishonest at worst. https://t.co/30A3Mr8cPZ
