A friend of mine just shared what they're experiencing in Kelowna in the last 24h. Here's what I understood:
Flights are shut down in or out

They work in a hospital. The neighbouring hospital is in code orange. They are dealing with massive casualties.

My friend is going to work at the evacuation center & committed to not only working their scheduled shift but their full off time too. That's 84 hours straight. 20,000 people need to be evacuated.

The fire at the dump is spreading rapidly with the winds.

The smoke is unbelievably heavy causing flight landing issues & once again diverting necessary air transportation.
People are hoarding fuel. Gas stations are running dry.

The province is officially in a state of emergency.

My thoughts go to the people in Kelowna, heroes like my friend & the wildlife that is being ravaged with all these fires.

We need heroes in government. All over the world. This is too much.
