#kNOwWasteWednesdayThere are lots of ways to reduce waste this Thanksgiving!
Use the Guest-imator to calculate how much food to make: https://t.co/95v3twtVKi
Use real pans - and recycle empty aluminum pans!
Avoid single-use tableware – try switching to at least one “real” item!
It's #kNOwWasteWednesday, but we're the ones learning today! (And presenting!) We're excited for the Resource Recycling Conference to be here in Louisville!
It’s #kNOwWasteWednesday! We are giving away this gently used composting tumbler that was donated to us! Leave us a comment if you’d like to be entered to win! Measurements: 30” tall, 25” wide, 18” deep. Drawing will be held on Monday, November 4 and the winner must be local!
#kNOwWasteWednesday Recycle padded all-paper envelopes! The cushioning material was designed to separate from the paper in the same way that paper coatings are removed during the recycling process. Those lined with bubble wrap are NOT accepted in recycling - reuse or trash.
It's #kNOwWasteWednesday! Check out TerraCycle's free mail-in recycling programs for items that aren't accepted in curbside recycling - like snack wrappers, drink pouches, toothbrushes, and more! https://t.co/vWvt6TpQaz
#kNOwWasteWednesday Don't recycle cardboard with the plastic overwrap attached! The recycling facility has to remove the cardboard by hand on the fast-moving sort line, then the wrap goes to landfill. Separate them, recycle the cardboard at home, recycle the wrap at stores.
It’s #kNOwWasteWednesday! If you find yourself grabbing a cup of coffee this fall, it’s good to know that empty paper coffee cups are accepted in recycling! Better yet, bring a reusable cup to the coffeeshop when you can!
It’s #kNOwWasteWednesday! Plastic pet food bags are NOT accepted in recycling. Try reusing as trash bags or upcycling them into something new, like a tote bag! There are mail-in recycling options for specific brands at https://t.co/vWvt6Tpil1.
Join Karen Maynard at Beechmont Presbyterian Church, 417 W Ashland Ave. for a special presentation about recycling! Saturday, September 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Join us Saturday, September 14 at the Bon Air Library's Emergency Preparedness Fair! We'll share educational resources about waste and recycling, preparing for a storm, and dealing with storm debris!
If you haul waste in Jefferson County and generate income, you must be licensed through the Waste Management District.
If you want to know if a waste hauler is licensed or apply for one, contact the Solid Waste Enforcement Department: https://t.co/EXaDoga0Sf #kNOwWasteWednesday
If you’ve ever been told that the plastic layer that keeps paper from getting soggy makes it nonrecyclable, forget it! Paper cups and frozen food boxes are accepted in recycling! That plastic layer gets separated during the pulping process at the paper mills! #kNOwWasteWednesday
Just because it's made of plastic doesn't mean it belongs in your recycling cart! LOTS of things are made of plastic these days. Please only recycle empty plastic cups, bottles, tubs, jugs, and other kitchen/bath/laundry containers. Leave lids attached! #kNOwWasteWednesday
The HazBin cannot accept motor oil until further notice. Residents needing to dispose of motor oil should take it to a staffed recycling drop-off location instead. https://t.co/9w0O8wEyMV
It's #kNOwWasteWednesday! Drink boxes are accepted in recycling, but drink pouches are not! Try recycling through a TerraCycle mail-in program, or reduce your waste by not buying these single-use products at all! (Straws go in trash.)
The Recycle Right Team found scrap metal in several recycling carts last week–curtain rods, screen windows, plant holders, light fixture! These are not accepted in household recycling! Recycle at a scrap metal facility or at a Pop-Up Drop-Off event! #kNOwWasteWednesday
