Here are my top reads of 2023. Continued gratitude to small presses, translators, & my 📚X mutuals. 7/12 women writers, 7/12 works in translation, 12/12 memorable. Here's to satisfying, challenging, & lasting 2024 reading! 🎆2🎆0🎆2🎆4🎆
Dipping a toe back in this fetid pool to share how thrilled I am w/ Missouri Williams’s new novel THE VIVISECTORS! 1/3 in & utterly mesmerized! Fans of THE DOLORIAD clap your hands (thinking of you @larisangela)! Congrats @misery_williams & Thanks @mcdbooks!
@ryanhasbadtaste Saw Mark Doten at P&P for his new story collection last August. Saw Jazmina Barrera and translator Megan McDowell last November at Lost City Books. Nothing since, so yeah, feels a bit dead for me, too.
Warmed by all the remembrances of Michael Silverblatt on here today. Glad to have been part of a short-lived Bookworm book club w/ a few hosts including Silverblatt, who rekindled my love for Fitzgerald’s Gatsby. Thrilled for those who knew him well and got to talk books. 📚 ❤️
