Cover crops have exploded the last week and the projected forecast is looking dry for much of the Midwest. If I had green cover growing and recently planted corn/soy or will plant soon I would terminate covers ASAP if worried about conserving soil moisture.

The same applies to no-till soybeans in WI. Maybe just don't look at them until July.... you'll be pretty pleased in July.

How to scout no-till corn after planting:

Don't look at it for two weeks. I guarantee you'll have a lot less stress.

Enjoying these realistic takes on soil health! This aligned well with what we experience in Wisconsin with trying to use no-till and cover crops to fine-tune systems to address common issues of compaction, drainage, and erosion. If managed incorrectly, productivity can be lost.
