Here's what we found:
1️⃣ Mowing in general significantly reduces arthropod numbers compared to unmown controls.
2️⃣Double-blade bar mowers, often considered "insect-friendly," were no better than conventional disc mowers.

The project "Evolution of Terpenoid Biosynthesis in Insects" is focused on the functional characterization of a set of insect terpene synthases from unrelated insect clades and defining their common and idiosyncratic structural features acquired during their multiple independent origins.

Am 1. Oktober wird der #Faktencheck #Artenvielfalt veröffentlicht und liefert damit den ersten #deutschlandweiten Bericht zu #Biodiversität. Über 150 Wissenschaftler*innen haben ca. 6.000 Publikationen zusammengefasst. Der Bericht ist im Buchhandel und als Open Access verfügbar.

Im #DZG2024 Public Talk erläuterte Sylvia Cremer, wie sich Insektenkolonien gesund halten. Neben dem Immunsystem der Einzeltiere schützt sich die Kolonie durch kollektive Hygiene, gegenseitige Pflege und #SocialDistancing zur Eindämmung von Krankheitsausbreitung #SozialeImmunität
