Learning institutions should invest in STEM because it equips learners with the critical thinking, problem‑solving, and technological skills needed to drive innovation and compete in an increasingly digital, knowledge‑based economy.
This week, the Implementation Network for Sharing Population Information from Research Entities (INSPIRE) 2.0 secretariat is hosting a team of African Health and Demographic Surveillance Systems (HDSS) site leads, researchers, and policymakers in Mombasa.
Deliberations at the meeting are focusing on strengthening African HDSS to generate timely, high-quality data that informs policy and decision-making.
In his remarks, #IamAPHRC's Director of Research, Andre Kengne, emphasized the importance of prioritizing and intentionally incorporating NCD surveillance into African HDSS platforms.
HDSS site leaders Dan Kanjungu and Karim Derra noted that strengthening and sustainably funding African HDSS hubs remains essential to ensuring that health policies are grounded in African-generated evidence.
