In the UK, a major scandal has erupted over the killing of a young Polish man. Police believed the killer and arrested the victim

Footage from police bodycams shows a severely injured Henry Nowak, who repeatedly says “I’ve been stabbed” and “I can’t breathe,” being handcuffed and detained. He later died.

Meanwhile, the attacker — 23-year-old Sikh man Vikram Digva — had already lied to police, claiming he was the victim.

According to the court, Digva stabbed the student five times, including once in the heart, using a large dagger.

After the attack, he tried to cover up the crime and falsely presented himself as the victim.

Police later admitted the injuries were fatal and the young man could not have been saved. However, officers’ actions at the scene triggered public outrage — the family said their son was humiliated and ignored.

The court found Vikram Digva guilty of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years. His mother was also found guilty of assisting the crime.

An investigation into police conduct is ongoing. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the incident must not be used to pit “white Britons against non-white Britons.”

Right-wing politicians accused the authorities of hypocrisy, saying the UK government showed more reaction to George Floyd’s death in the US than to the murder of a young man in its own country.
