"Verovaje" on täydellinen työkalu valvonnan, tiedonkeruun ja toimivaltuuksien kasvattamiseksi. Luku on riittävän suuri huolien herättämiseksi, riittävän epämääräinen monenkirjaville tulkinnollle ja verovajeen torjuminen edellyttää aina vain lisää resursseja.
Valtiokoneen jatkuva laajeneminen on lähinnä tekninen kysymys (ei lainkaan poliittinen!). Laajentuminen tuottaa jatkuvasti uusia perusteluja kasvun oikeuttamiseksi.
Vienti Yhdysvaltoihin kasvoi 11,1 prosenttia 7,7 miljardiin dollariin. Onnea 250-vuotiaalle USA:lle!
Pride in Finland now includes public attacks on named scientists and physicians whose offense is adhering to evidence-based practice and refusing to dish out gender-transition diagnoses on the basis of self-identification alone.
Among those singled out "to Hell" are psychiatrist Dr. Kaisa KETTULA, whose research has included detransition and diagnostic assessment, and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Riittakerttu KALTIALA, one of Finland's leading experts on youth gender dysphoria.
Their experience serves as a reminder that, in certain activist circles, questioning prevailing assumptions is treated less as a contribution to scientific debate than as a moral transgression.
Ministerillä on lisäksi koko nykyistä rahoitusrakennetta koskeva tärkeä pointti:
"Seuraan suurella mielenkiinnolla, aikooko valtionavuilla elävä instituutti käyttää veronmaksajalta saamaansa rahaa oikeudenkäyntikuluihin valtiota vastaan saadakseen valtiolta vielä enemmän veronmaksajan rahaa."
People's need to punish dissenters is often a confession of doubt.
If something is obviously true, you don’t need to punish people for refusing to say it. We don’t have to coerce agreement that the sky is blue. Everyone can see it.
But when an idea is uncertain, fragile, or possibly untrue, the pressure to enforce belief becomes stronger. You have to punish dissent because the consensus itself is doing the work. The point is not merely to recognize what is true, but to make everyone publicly affirm the same thing as true.
You know what shook me when I was Muslim?
Psalm 22. A song written by King David a thousand years before Jesus.
It opens: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” The exact words Jesus cried from the cross.
But it keeps going, and it describes a scene David never lived:
“They have pierced my hands and my feet.”
“All my bones are out of joint.”
“I can count all my bones — people stare and gloat over me.”
“They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.”
David was never crucified. Crucifixion didn’t even exist in David’s time. It wouldn’t be invented for centuries.
So how does a man describe death by piercing hands and feet, and soldiers gambling for his clothes, a thousand years before it happened to Jesus exactly as written?
You know what really rattled me?
This was a photograph taken a thousand years early.
Pierced hands and feet. Gambling for the garments. Mocking crowds. Bones out of joint from hanging.
Every detail, at the foot of the cross, fulfilled.
Islam told me to doubt the crucifixion.
David described it in HD ten centuries before it happened.
You can’t erase an event that was prophesied in that much detail.
>American airman asleep on a train in France while on vacation with his childhood friends
>Wakes up to the sound of screaming and breaking glass
>Sees a terrorist step into the aisle carrying an AK-47 and 300 rounds of ammo
>Doesn't look for an exit, doesn't hesitate
>Sprints 30 feet down the aisle straight at the barrel of the gun, completely unarmed
>The terrorist pulls the trigger; the rifle miraculously jams
>Tackles him, gets slashed in the neck and hand with a box cutter, almost losing his thumb
>Ignores the bleeding, chokes the attacker unconscious with his bare hands
>Credits God for the jammed rifle and his survival
>Saves everyone on board
Patriot airman Spencer Stone is a hero.
@ir_rkp
@lofgrenin@SuviAnneSiimes Voi olla. Sitähän sanotaan jotain siihen tyyliin, että kosmologia muuttuu yksi kuollut fyysikko kerrallaan. Toisaalta kaikki on vuorollaan se kuollut fyysikko.
This is why no one in any Western country can cut any welfare spending ever and why we keep going further and further into debt.
Because any time anyone reduces spending on anything, an example can be wheeled out of a person who suffered or even died as a result.
On this basis, there can never be too much spending, too much aid or too much tax.
Indeed, the author of the tweet I am quoting will almost certainly oppose paying taxes of 100% or having 100% of his country's GDP be used in aid to the developing world. Despite the fact that his failure to give all his/his country's money away is demonstrably killing people right now. How many lives could be saved by having all of his money go to Africa? How many millions could be saved by having all of the federal budget be sent to the poorest parts of the world?
Heartbreaking.

There is no greater love than to lay down your life for another. Motherhood is irreplaceable.
They're not freezing your rent, they're freezing your housing providers' income, while their expenses keep increasing.
The point isn't to make your housing affordable, it's to make providing housing financially inviable, so government(s) can seize the unmanageable properties.
Our lack of financial literacy is going to destroy us.
