Holcomb (3A, 9-2) have shown some resilience this postseason with all three games coming down to one score or less (Marysville 12-7, Rock Creek 21-14, and Scott City 10-7). The Longhorns are coached by Trey Teeter and had a really nice win last Friday against Scott City who had shut them out in Week Six 0-9. Trey Teeter was a former 4A-II OPOY and state champion QB for Holcomb in 2015. He took over for his dad at Holcomb two years ago and has put up a 16-5 record the last two seasons and now a Substate berth. The Longhorns will travel to 3A state powerhouse Andale this Friday with a State Championship trip on the line. #sportsinkansas
🎥: Holcomb, Kansas native Todd Tichenor has umpired World Series, All-Star Games and much more baseball history. Now after 15 years in the big leagues, he has a new bucket-list goal: Umpiring an MLB game with his son, Kaden.
"There's a chance. Let's take the chance, why not?"
In the Family: 8 years ago in Emporia, Trey Teeter played in the Kansas Shrine Bowl on the west for Holcomb after leading the Longhorns to the state title as a senior QB. He grabbed a pic with his cousin Kooper Tichenor after the game in 2016. 8 years later in Emporia and last night, Kooper played in the 2024 Kansas Shrine Bowl game for Holcomb on the West with his cousin Trey Teeter as a coach for the West in the game, they grabbed another pic after the game. Trey is also the head coach of Holcomb HS after taking over for his father Kent who won two state titles for the Longhorns (2015, 2017). You can say sports runs in the family as Trey’s uncle and Kooper’s dad, Todd Tichenor, is a longtime MLB umpire. #sportsinkansas
