I have seen many tweets and counter tweets on the TL. I also saw Dr Oni’s rebuttal to Dr. Sharof, but I exercised restraint throughout. I saw them, I just decided to take a silent approach.
Now that I have been asked formally, I am compelled to say something about it.
First of all, what is the true and most grounded answer to the issue of apostasy in Islam?
The foundational ruling is very clear. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said in a Hadith reported by Ibn Abbas and recorded in Sahih Bukhari:
من بدل دينه فاقتلوه
"Whoever changes his religion, execute him."
The Hadith above is a definitive text. But what does it mean? The true meaning of this Hadith is best understood by understanding the actions of the Prophet.
Imam Ash-Shatibi explained in his book Al-Muwafaqat explained the three different capacities in which the Prophet acted. I talked about this when I refuted Maliq.
His roles evolved in three phases. In the first phase, he acted as a Messenger conveying revelation. Then he moved into the next phase as a Mufti giving religious verdicts. And in the third phase, he acted as an Imam, which means the Head of State (President) and supreme Judge.
When the Prophet gave this specific ruling on apostasy as seen in the Hadith, he was acting in his third capacity as the Head of State. This means the ruling is tied to state authority. It is a state policy that was designed to deal with national security and treason.
And get one fact clear. The policy above was a necessity. The Islamic nation under the Prophet (peace be upon him) was surrounded by a lot of enemies.
They were dealing with the hostile Quraysh, the hypocrites sabotaging them from within Medina, rebellious Arab tribes, and big superpowers such the Byzantine Romans and the Persian Empire.
Can you imagine the scale of the territory? The region of Sham alone, which was managed from far away in Medina, comprises four whole countries today (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine).
Therefore, maintaining such wide swathe of leadership and securing their military defense made it very necessary to have strict laws against internal betrayal.
Let’s bring it home. Under the Nigerian constitution, the highest crime a citizen can commit against the country is high treason. If you betray the Nigerian state, the penalty is death.
In a fully functioning Islamic state, the religion and the state are one. This is what many people especially non-Muslims fail to understand today. Religion and state power are indivisible entity. You cannot seperate them.
Therefore, leaving the religion is not seen as a personal choice. It is viewed the same way the Nigerian government views high treason. It is a capital offense against the state.
This is where Dr. Sharof is talking from. He is speaking from an Islamic state point of view. And as usual, Dr. Oni just strung words together without saying anything. It is more or less like he is on a default mode to attack anything a Sunnah scholar says.
Having said this, one major problem I see that we have today is lack of adequate knowledge about this affair.

I was informed that my mother has been sick 3 days ago by my dad on WhatsApp
I kept mute because I was still hurt
I couldn't just ignore for long so I took a bold decision yesterday to visit my parents after a long time of threats and curses from them since I reverted to Islam
My parents were shocked to see me though
So I bought them some provisions and gave to them like I used to in the past
I saw my mother and I was weeping inside my heart
I learnt they've gone to several hospitals but her condition persists
So without looking back I held her hands and started reciting surah falaq, nas and ayatul kursi
Then I got a glass of water and recited surah fatiha on it and blew air into it and gave her to drink because I learnt that surah is also called The Cure
My father didn't stop me
But I noticed my mum started getting relieved gradually
To cut the long story short I left towards the evening because I had a flight to catch to lagos and I left hurriedly
When I got to lagos as at 7pm I called them back and my father said my mum has been sleeping so I let them rest
This morning my dad's call woke me up by 4am to tell me that my mums sleep improved overnight and she's been moving her limbs better since last night
He said whatever I did yesterday worked o that he doesn't mind if I keep doing that
I was overjoyed after the call
I had my tahajjud and thanked Allah and prayed my mums health improves
But I still kept wondering how a simple surah from the Glorious Qur’an could be so effective
I am beginning to deepen my Fear for Allah SWT
On the other hand I am wishing they turn to Allah so they can see how Great Allah is and worship him too
Indeed Allah is the greatest
What is it in Mountains that is driving Muslims? You want to move closer to the heavens?
No matter your problems, no matter your challenges, no matter your shortcomings, the prayer of Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) is sufficient for you.
"La ilaha illa anta, subhanaka, inni kuntu minaz-zalimin".
Hold on to it. It is a prayer made for made for people drowning in darkness and distress. Nobody will be persistent on this prayer and not overcome his/her challenges.
Innovation is costly. Sunnah is cheap. Unfortunately, our people love costly things 💔
Allah knows best.
Allah watched you commit that sin. He saw the whole thing. every detail. and His response? He still let the sun rise for you the next morning. still kept your heart beating. still sent you rizq. that’s not Him being unaware. that’s Him being most kind and ever loving
Hmm... removing all the pins is not enough. If you know the kind of spells they use in making this, you will know it is not enough.
Every pin is a curse that activates dark forces. Most times, there are the Khadim Al-Sihr (servants of magic). And since they bury it in the ground, the Jinn al-Turabi (earthly forces) are also activated.
The pins on the head represent mental confusion or severe migraines. If the pin is pinned on the legs, it represents total stagnation.
This is why I said removing the pins is not enough. It will only break the physical trigger and give the victim temporary relief. But the spiritual contract with those dark entities will still remain open.
For a total redemption, you have to burn it completely and make sure it turns to ashes. While doing it, you need to pray. For Muslims, your Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas are enough as you burn it.
Once it turns to ashes, don’t just pour it anywhere around your house o. Pack it up and throw it into a moving river so the water scatters it.
If you don't have a river nearby, take it far away into a bush where people do not walk and bury it. This clears the last physical trace of that evil forever.
Be careful out there. İle nyo.
May the Almighty continue to protect us.
I won't stop posting this picture until either I'm arrested or the government do the right thing.
This is a health center in a community in Ebonyi State.
This is not fair to the people!
Surely at some point, the dam should break for Gbajabiamila, or are all his supporters and party members going to keep claiming these are witch hunts against him?
The smoke is too big for us not to conclude there’s a fire.
Dear Comrade Karl #Marx, today is 203 years since your birth. I write to inform you that the bourgeosie is even more rapacious than during your time. They produce nothing, they simply use technology platforms to extract money. Those in agriculture poison us with chemicals. RIP
Talk is cheap when it doesn't affectyou.
When I posted about needing a non interest loan help with power for my business, one particular guy insulted me, I actually cried and told myself you deserve it. You see what they do to people everyday on that app and still took your vulnerability to them. I later blocked him and moved along.
Many gave different suggestion, the most prominent was from solar sponsoring companies, and I did reach out to a couple of them but after critical analysis, I realized that many of them are just as good as the loan sharks and I decided against using any.
The next common one was converting my generator to CNG powered, I went with it being that it was the only affordable option at the time. To say that I regret that decision everyday is an understatement, I still use 5k gas for less than 4hrs light everyday.
Note that I have tried other means that I never thought I would before coming here, I even managed to secure an approved 5m single digit business loan from @BOINigeria
That didn't materialize because they said funds is exhausted at the point of disbursement.
Every single thing my business own have been self sponsored, no help or funding from anywhere and a time will come in any business when you want to grow so bad, you will do almost anything to get it because you believe your big break will come from a scaling.
I totally understand the lady's predicament because I know how it feels to be stuck in a circle, the only mistake I have not made yet is to become too desperate as to let my emotions get the best of me.
As much I have seen many people come out to demand for their monies, even with their propestrous interest rates, I have also seen people's testimony of how honest she is as an entrepreneur whose only mistake could have been over ambition or conditions beyond her control.
Every business owners knows how volatile it is doing business in Nigeria with the inflation, poor power especially for those in perishable goods businesses, especially for people like us with no safety net and sponsors.
In all, I pray God touch the hearts of her investors to be more gracious and the heart of philanthropists on this app to come to her aid and others like her who needs help to stay afloat and survive.
In the end, may we all find the help we need.
Again, if you can afford to loan out or looking to partner with a growing fashion business. I'm here and I need help.
The man they are calling a scammer and accusing of creating a fake agency has been seen all over with them.
The APC clearly has no regard for the intelligence of Nigerians.
