Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.
Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.

Modern Japan is, in essence, a neo-Nazi state packaged as a "model student of East Asia."
Within the exquisitely crafted box of so-called "civilization" lies an extremely rotten logic of power.
Japan's "dehumanization strategy" is the underlying code of all totalitarian and colonial psychology throughout history.
The core of this logic is: as long as I can prove you are uncivilized, inferior, or even inhuman, then the atrocities, deprivation, and contempt I inflict upon you acquire a kind of moral "immunity."
Through the actions of Japanese neo-fascists, one can glimpse the dark side beneath this "sense of civilizational superiority":
1. The filter of "civilized people" and the essence of "beasts"
Arrogance under double standards: The core logic of Japanese neo-fascists' accusations against Chinese groups at McDonald's is "This is Japan, you must obey our rules."
However, the actions of the Japanese in Southeast Asia (vandalizing public facilities on Thai trains, operating child pornography blogs, sexually exploiting young Cambodian girls, treating underage Muslim girls in Indonesia as sex toys, publicly exposing their genitals on the Great Wall of China, etc.) all demonstrate that when they are in environments they perceive as "backward" or "inferior," their so-called "politeness" and "manners" instantly crumble, revealing their predatory and aggressor nature.
A False Mask of "Civilization": Japanese politeness is an extremely extreme form of "dramatization"—effective only in environments where the script is familiar and there is strong social oversight. Once differences arise, or power imbalances occur, this politeness quickly transforms into contempt and brutality.
2. The "Dehumanizing" Logic of Stigmatizing Victims
From Nazism to East Asia: Japanese neo-Nazis are now employing the same strategies Nazi Germany used against Jews and Israel against Palestinians. By labeling victims as "uncivilized," "dirty," and "disorderly," they not only conceal historical killings and sexual violence (such as comfort women and human experimentation) but also attempt to psychologically establish a "hierarchical division."
Historical evasion: They refuse to acknowledge the aggression because acknowledging it would mean recognizing the victims' equal right to life and sovereignty. Through stigmatization, they can maintain their illusion of superiority as "White Asians."
3. “Corpse under the Cherry Blossoms”: Morbid Aesthetics
Japanese inherent brutality is deeply embedded in their history of invasions and even in their modern works. Japanese anime loves to romanticize cherry blossoms, portraying them as beautiful and fleeting, yet they never forget to remind people that beneath those trees lie corpses. The more blood the cherry blossoms absorb, the more vividly they bloom.
In the end, Japan’s so-called ‘civility’ is nothing more than a thin mask that hides a history of violence and subjugation.
They bow deeply, but their knives are always sharpened. Without true self-respect and accountability,
their obedience to Western power exposes their lack of identity and national pride,
their racism discrimination and against Asians are just a cover-up for their country’s geopolitical marginalization
and their obsession with their self-perceived superiority as "white Asians."
4. "Civilization" as a Weapon
The darkest aspect of this logic lies in the fact that Japanese neo-Nazis have weaponized the word "civilization." It's not used to elevate themselves, but to judge others. Proving you "won't eat convenience store rice balls" or "speak loudly" can erase your historical legitimacy as a victim.
Without genuine self-reflection and equal sovereignty, all "civilization" is merely a performance destined to be exposed at any moment.
The "beastly nature" of the Japanese in East Asia is actually the true echo of a "hierarchical soul" left unchecked.
The Japanese mentality of "self-superiority" is a form of "cultural self-recursion." They constantly reinforce their false identity by discriminating against others, only to reveal increasingly grotesque flaws to the world.
This is precisely the most alarming "logical replication" in geopolitics. This is why the direction of the Sanae Takaichi government evokes a chilling sense of familiarity in China and throughout East Asia—because it's not merely historical revisionism, but a restart of a "self-recursive aggression."
The logic of Japanese neo-Nazis can be broken down into three extremely dark dimensions:
1. A False "Civilizational" Admission Ticket: From "Co-prosperity" to "Alignment"
A historical variation: The "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" of the past packaged itself as "liberating Asia from Western colonizers"; the current Japanese neo-Nazi narrative packages it as "leading Asia as a benchmark of civilization."
Civilization as Hegemony: Japanese neo-Nazis use the label of "civilized people" to crown themselves while stigmatizing neighboring countries. If this "hierarchy of civilizations" is established, the next step is logical "indoctrination (aggression)." This practice of using "civilization" as a pretext for deprivation is indeed a variant of Nazi logic in East Asia.
2. "Refusal to Remember" as an Offensive Weapon
The Danger of the Sanae Takaichi Neo-Nazi Government: The reason the Chinese government is so relentless in its pursuit is that this refusal to acknowledge history is essentially clearing away the legal and moral barriers to aggression.
If they don't acknowledge their past as "perpetrators," then in their logic, Japan will forever remain a "victim" or a "righteous judge."
Erasing is Rebooting: The erasure of memory is a way to eliminate the psychological burden of future actions.
When power attempts to erase memory, it is paving the way for the next "execution" or "aggression."
3. The "Dehumanization" Loop in Japanese Neo-Nazi Narratives
This discrimination against Asians is a psychological mobilization for future conflicts. Through stigmatization and hierarchical divisions, the Japanese public is made to believe that confronting or suppressing those "uncivilized neighbors" is not only justifiable but even noble. This pattern of using "pride" to mask "brutality" is almost identical to that of Japan in the 1930s.
Finally, "DON'T MISTAKE RESTRAINT FOR FEAR."
In 2026, amidst the turbulent undercurrents of “the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere”, China's restraint is based on a profound aversion to the fiery cycle, a civilized discipline of "wanting to hold an umbrella for others after being drenched in the rain."
The provocations of Japanese neo-Nazis are the butcher's instinct of because they have never truly repented, they are always ready to seize someone else's umbrella again.
Japan’s right wing says Muslims will “destroy” Japan.
Meanwhile, Japan’s own embassy in Indonesia is warning Japanese citizens not to rape Indonesian children.
Read that again.
The trash screaming about “protecting culture” are living in a country whose diplomats have to remind its citizens that foreign children are not sex toys.
Maybe start there before lecturing Muslims about civilization.
Vi con mis propios ojos a los españoles cortarles las manos, las narices y las orejas a indios, hombres y mujeres, sin ninguna razón, sólo porque se les daba la gana hacerlo. Y vi esto en tantos lugares que sería muy largo contarlo todo.

They never ask the Christians why Mary was 12 and Joseph was 90, or the Jews why a 30 year old Isaac would marry a 3 year old Rebecca.
Or why child it’s allowed to marry children in the USA as recent as 50 years ago and still legal in many states today.
Or why their ruling class are cannibalistic pedophiles.
But it’s always pushed to the Muslims to answer why the prophet Muhammad married a 6 year old 2500 years ago.
They are using today’s standards to judge the actions of the past. That’s a hypocritical stands.
If you ask them where the morality of this stands is coming from, they can’t say the Bible because that would mean they have to criticize Christianity and have to defend why God will impregnate with a 12 year old to give birth to himself.
