Fair point. I should have said Centern is economically centre-right/market-liberal, not simply “centre-right”. But the same nuance has to apply to SD. SD is economically mixed, not simply left-wing.

C has also historically cooperated across the political divide. It worked with the Social Democrats on economic policy in the 1990s, but it also governed with the centre-right parties in 1991–94 and later became a core member of the Alliansen with M, L (FP) and KD, governing together from 2006 to 2014.

So describing C simply as part of “the left” is just as misleading as describing it simply as a right-wing party.

That is also why saying “the left won” is too simplistic. S, V and MP did not win a majority on their own. The parliamentary majority depended on Centern, a market-liberal centrist party with a long history of cooperation with the centre-right.

The opposition won. That is not the same thing as saying the left won.
